Viewing and clearing the IPv6 Neighbor Cache
Neighbor discovery occurs when there is communication between the switch and another, reachable IPv6 device on the same VLAN Virtual Local Area Network. In computer networking, a single Layer 2 network may be partitioned to create multiple distinct broadcast domains, which are mutually isolated so that packets can only pass between them through one or more routers; such a domain is referred to as a Virtual Local Area Network, Virtual LAN, or VLAN.. A neighbor destination is reachable from a given source address if a confirmation (neighbor solicitation) has been received at the source verifying that traffic has been received at the destination.
The switch maintains an IPv6 neighbor cache that is populated as a result of communication with other devices on the same VLAN Virtual Local Area Network.
