End of Support
This section describes ClearPass and third-party systems, software, and features that are no longer supported or that are approaching their end-of-support date.
Long Support Release
ClearPass 6.11 is a Long Support Release (LSR), and will include certifications and active support for two or more years. In a Long Support Release, HPE Aruba Networking introduces new features and new hardware, and "parks" hardware (last major release supported) as needed. An LSR version reaches End of Support on the date when the next LSR version is released, but continues to receive critical security patches for a limited time thereafter. A maximum of two ClearPass releases are supported at any point in time: one Long Support Release (LSR) and one Short Support Release (SSR). ClearPass 6.11 Milestones
Adjustments may be made to the dates shown below. For the most recent information, please refer to the HPE Networking Support End of Life page. For details on HPE Aruba Networking End of Life policy, please refer to the End of Life Policy page.
This release includes a transition from the historical terms used in ClearPass Milestones to updated language. Releases will now be either Long Support Release (LSR) or Short Support Release (SSR). Long Support releases will be supported through all subsequent Short Support releases for customers who desire a release without the need to update to new features. Short Support releases will be released more regularly to include the addition of new features and functionality. The ClearPass 6.11 release is a Long Support Release (LSR).

ClearPass 6.11 Deprecated Features
The following features are no longer supported in ClearPass 6.11:

The Remote Assistance feature is deprecated in ClearPass 6.11, 6.12, and later versions. Although the Administration > Support > Remote Assistance page still appears in the user interface in 6.11 and 6.12, the functionality is removed and it cannot be used. The page will be removed in the 6.14 release. (CP‑53753) |

Beginning in ClearPass 6.11 the use of m4 Amazon Web Services is no longer supported. Amazon indicates that all customers must move to m5 instances to be able to support operating ClearPass. |

ClearPass 6.10 was the last major version that supported VMware ESXi 6.5. ClearPass now requires ESXi 6.7 or later. |

ClearPass 6.10 was the last major version that supported Windows Server 2016 with Hyper‑V. ClearPass now requires Windows server 2019 with Hyper‑V or later. |

ClearPass 6.10 was the last major version that supported installing the ClearPass OnGuard Agent on an Ubuntu 16.04 system. |

At Guest > Configuration > SMS Services > Gateways, the gateway ClearPass Guest SMS Service is now deprecated. ClearPass 6.11 is the final release where the ClearPass Guest SMS Service gateway will be available. The service will be removed entirely in a future release of ClearPass. The service itself is no longer available. |

ClearPass 6.10 was the last major version that supported the WorldPay Hotspot transaction processor. |

The External Backup Puller tool is deprecated and not supported after ClearPass 6.8. To push backups for Linux and Windows systems, customers should use the SFTP, SCP, or NFS methods instead. For information about using SFTP or SCP instead to push the data, see the “File Backup Servers” section of the Policy Manager User Guide. |

Facebook’s parent company Meta will terminate its cloud identity program Facebook Wi-Fi as of June 12, 2023. As of that date Facebook Wi-Fi will no longer work as a cloud identity authentication provider in any ClearPass version, and in the ClearPass 6.12.0 release, Facebook Wi-Fi will be removed from the list of cloud identity authentication providers in ClearPass Guest’s Web Login, Self-Registration, and Onboard Provisioning Settings login forms. |

ClearPass continually builds on the unified REST API framework to support a wide variety of use cases. All future development will focus on this framework. Although the legacy APIs will still be available and you can continue to use them, no new functionality will be developed for them. We encourage customers to migrate any planned or existing applications to interface with the new REST API framework instead. If you still use the legacy TipsAPI (XML), Guest SOAP APIs, or Guest XML-RPC APIs, we recommend that you migrate to the appropriate RESTful API as soon as possible. |
Third-Party Vendor Operating System End-of-Support
Third-party operating systems are supported only during the time between their official release and the end of support from the vendor. While some systems may continue to operate and some functionality will continue to be exposed to work with these, they are officially unsupported. Our TAC organization will not be able to provide service to support requests related to clients running OS versions not officially supported by their vendor. This list includes the following:
