Classified Devices - Device Details Overview

The Device Details dialog displays additional detail information for a specific system classified device System classified devices are devices that have been classified by the system. Devices are classified by the system using built-in rules. or user classified device User classified devices are devices that have been classified by the user. Devices can be classified by a user by assigning a classification set to a device cluster or creating a user defined rule and then reclassifying the devices.. This dialog contains the following:

Some of the information that is displayed in this dialog is only available if ClearPass Device Insight is integrated with ClearPass Policy Manager ClearPass Policy Manager is a baseline platform for policy management, AAA, profiling, network access control, and reporting. With ClearPass Policy Manager, the network administrators can configure and manage secure network access that accommodates requirements across multiple locations and multivendor networks, regardless of device ownership and connection method. and that information is available for the device. Otherwise, that information is not displayed.

A dash "-" is displayed in the fields of the dialog where no information is available.

Header Section

The Header section displays basic device profile information and icons that enable different actions to be performed against the device detail information. Above the Header section, one of the following is displayed depending on whether the fields are available: MAC Address / IP Address, MAC Address, or IP Address. The following table describes the information displayed in the Header section:

Description

Device Type Image

Image of the device type.

Note: For devices with an Unclassified Device device type, the No Image device type image is displayed because device type is unknown for these devices.

Status

Status of the device. Statuses are:

  • Idle
  • Offline
  • Online

Time durations for device statuses are set using the Settings page.

Hostname

Hostname for the device.

Type

Device type.

Icons

Filter Devices

Opens the Filter Devices dialog where you can filter the list of devices matching the criteria you define. You can add filters to the Filters dialog of the Classified Devices page or to the List view grid of the Classified Devices page, Generic Devices page, or User Classified Devices page.

Reclassify

Opens the Classify Devices Using Rule dialog where you can create a rule A rule is a user defined classification set used by the system to classify unknown (generic) devices or reclassify devices. Rule classification overrides system classification. to reclassify devices matching the rule criteria.

Export

Opens the Export as PDF dialog where you can export the information displayed in the Device Details dialog to a PDF file. You can export one or all of the following to a PDF file:

  • Profile tab
  • Network tab
  • History tab
