Cloning a Group
Cloning a group will clone the same architecture and persona from the source group.
If the architecture setting of a source group is ArubaOS 8, you can upgrade the architecture to ArubaOS 10 for the cloned group. If the architecture setting of a source group is ArubaOS 10, the architecture cannot be changed and it can only be cloned to a new ArubaOS 10 group. For more information on upgrading the clone group architecture from ArubaOS 8 to ArubaOS 10, see Upgrading Device Architecture while Cloning.
When an ArubaOS 10 group is cloned, only bridge SSID Service Set Identifier. SSID is a name given to a WLAN and is used by the client to access a WLAN network. is copied; Overlay or tunnel mode SSID is not cloned. For more information on limitations for a cloned group, see Caveats for Group Management.
To clone a group, complete the following steps:
- In the Aruba Central app, set the filter to .
- Under
By default, the Network Structure tab is displayed.

tile. - To create a clone of an existing group, hover over the group in the groups table and click the
icon.
The Clone Group page is displayed.
- Enter a name for the group.
To name a group, see the following guidelines:
- The group name can be a maximum of 32 single byte ASCII American Standard Code for Information Interchange. An ASCII code is a numerical representation of a character or an action. characters if you use the UI to create the names. However, if you are using an NB API Northbound Application Programming Interface. - The group name supports alphanumeric characters and hyphen, underscore, and space as special characters.
- System-defined group names such as default, unprovisioned, and global are not allowed in group names.

When you clone a group, Aruba Central also copies the configuration templates applied to the devices in the group.
