Modifying VSF Links Using the WebUI

You can modify VSF Virtual Switching Framework. VSF allows network administrators to stack multiple individual switches into a single logical device using standard Ethernet links. ports in the VSF links using the Classic Central app only when the following statuses are inactive:

  • The admin status in the Ports & Link Aggregations page.

  • The operational status in the switch details page.

To modify the VSF links in the VSF stack, complete the following steps:

  1. Set the filter to Global or the group containing the stack.
  2. Under Manage, click Devices > Switches.

    A list of switches is displayed in the List view.

  3. Select the conductor switch of the stack for which you want to modify the links.
  4. Navigate to the Ports & Link Aggregations page.
  5. Select the VSF ports that you want to modify, and click the edit icon.
  6. In the Edit Ports page, clear the Admin Up check box to shut down the port.

    The VSF ports may take up to five minutes to go down.

  7. Remove the physical VSF links from the port that you want to modify.
  8. Reconnect the physical links to the port as required.
  9. At the group level, navigate to the VSF Stacking page.
  10. Expand the stack and point to the member for which you want to modify the links.
  11. Click the edit icon.
  12. In the Edit Stack Member window, modify the VSF links as required.

    You cannot edit the VSF links when the ports are up. You must modify both Link 1 port(s) and Link 2 port(s) at the same time. Otherwise, the VSF stack may break.

  • Before modifying VSF links, power down non-standby members connected to the member you are going to modify. This action prevents the members from entering recovery mode after multiple reboots.
  • You cannot modify VSF links after the VSF switchover.
