Custom AirGroup Service
AirGroup allows administrators to create up to nine custom services apart from the seven predefined services. Each custom service requires at least one custom service ID. Up to 32 custom service IDs can be defined.
A custom service name must use lower-case alphanumeric characters. The special characters, hyphen (-) and underscore (_) are allowed. The maximum length of a custom service name is 48 characters. Duplicate custom service names are not allowed.
A custom service ID can be of type mDNS Multicast Domain Name System. mDNS provides the ability to perform DNS-like operations on the local link in the absence of any conventional unicast DNS server. The mDNS protocol uses IP multicast User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets, and is implemented by the Apple Bonjour and Linux NSS-mDNS services. mDNS works in conjunction with DNS Service Discovery (DNS-SD), a companion zero-configuration technique specified. See RFC 6763. or SSDP. The mDNS service ID must use all lower-case alphanumeric characters.
For example:
- _<label>._tcp
- _<label>._udp
The SSDP service ID is case sensitive and follows the following syntax:
<device-type>, <domain-name>: alphanumeric chars or ‘-’
For example:
- urn:<domain-name>:service:<device-type>:<version>
- urn:<domain-name>:device:<device-type>:<version>
The Custom AirGroup Service can be created from the AirGroup configuration page or the AirGroup suppressed services page.
