Configuring Device Profile and Device Identifier
Device profile configuration allows HPE Aruba Networking Central to dynamically detect an Aruba AP, AOS-S, or other devices, which are directly connected to the switch, and apply predefined configurations to ports on which the devices are detected. The device profile configuration has default device profiles and device identifiers, which cannot be deleted. In addition to the default device profiles and device identifiers, you can create custom device profiles and device identifiers.
The following pre-configured type (device-type) under device-profile is available:
- Aruba-ap—All aruba AP
- Aruba-switch—Aruba AOS switches
- SCS-wan-spe—Swisscom WAN Wide Area Network. WAN is a telecommunications network or computer network that extends over a large geographical distance. devices (swiss service provider)
To apply device-profile on other device types, configure them under the device-identity and associate that identity with a profile provided the device is detectable via LLDP Link Layer Discovery Protocol. LLDP is a vendor-neutral link layer protocol in the Internet Protocol suite used by network devices for advertising their identity, capabilities, and neighbors on an IEEE 802 local area network, which is principally a wired Ethernet. TLV Type-length-value or Tag-Length-Value. TLV is an encoding format. It refers to the type of data being processed, the length of the value, and the value for the type of data being processed. 127 and CDP Cisco Discovery Protocol. CDP runs on Cisco devices and enables networking applications to learn about the neighboring devices directly connected to the network. (VOIP).
