Client Match Service
Client Match identifies the clients that do not get the required level of service at the AP to which they are currently associated, and attempts to intelligently steer those clients to a radio that will provide a better experience. It periodically checks the health of every client's current association to determine if steering is required.
Client Match can perform the following actions:
-
Identify wireless clients that are not getting a good level of service at the AP where they are currently associated and attempts to intelligently steer those clients to a radio that will provide a better experience.
-
Use the network bandwidth more efficiently by steering clients from 2.4G Fourth Generation of Wireless Mobile Telecommunications Technology. See LTE. band Band refers to a specified range of frequencies of electromagnetic radiation. to 5G and 6G bands, where the client can leverage higher speeds and more spectrum.
-
Optimize the usage of the wireless network by balancing wireless clients across the channels that are available in the band.
-
Improve wireless network performance by proactively fixing poor client connectivity issues that can cause RF Radio Frequency. RF refers to the electromagnetic wave frequencies within a range of 3 kHz to 300 GHz, including the frequencies used for communications or Radar signals. congestion and low rates, which negatively impacts all clients.
Types of Steers
Client Match periodically checks the health of the current association of the clients and determines the steer type. The different types of Client Match Steer are:
Sticky Steer
This steer type help clients that tend to stay associated with an AP despite deteriorating signal levels. Client Match continuously monitors the Relative Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI Received Signal Strength Indicator. RSSI is a mechanism by which RF energy is measured by the circuitry on a wireless NIC (0-255). The RSSI is not standard across vendors. Each vendor determines its own RSSI scale/values.) of sticky clients. If required, Client Match moves the clients to an AP that offers better level of service. Sticky steer prevents the clients from remaining associated to an AP with less than ideal RSSI. Less than ideal RSSI causes poor connectivity and reduces the performance for other clients associated with that AP.
Band Steer
This steer type applies only to dual-band and tri-band capable clients that are currently associated to a 2.4 GHz Gigahertz. radio. If Client Match detects that the client is currently associated to 2.4GHz radio and is capable of associating to another band, it will attempt to steer the client from the 2.4 GHz to the 5 or 6 GHz radio of the same AP.
Spectrum Balance Steer
This steer type attempts to balance the number of clients on each channel within an RF Partition by steering clients in an intelligent manner. Steers are chosen to ensure the client receives an acceptable level of service at the new radio in terms of effective signal strength, and also tries to choose a destination that matches clients' MU-MIMO Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output. MU-MIMO is a set of multiple-input and multiple-output technologies for wireless communication, in which users or wireless terminals with one or more antennas communicate with each other. capability (11ac) and HE capability (11ax).
