Configuring Uplink VLAN

Configuring uplink VLAN allows for network traffic organization, making sure data goes to all the right places. Refer to the following use cases for uplink VLAN configuration:

Post-configuration:

• Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 1 Static

• Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 Static

Pre-configuration:

• Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 DHCP 

• Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 Static

Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 1 Static

Complete the following steps, after onboarding, to configure VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 1 Static, using the same IP address:

1. Click the configuration icon and click Create Site, located at the top right-hand corner.

   The Create Site page is displayed.

2. Complete all required parameters and click Save.

   See Creating a Site for more information.

3. Onboard the device via ZTP, using the VLAN 1 DHCP option.

   See Connecting AOS-CX Switches for more information.

4. Click on the Overview icon.

5. Locate the Inventory and Subscriptions card and click on the Total Devices count.

   The Device Inventory page is displayed.

6. In Device Inventory, click on the Switch tab and select your device. Alternatively, use the search bar and/or filter to search for the device using its serial number or MAC address.

7. Click Assign.

   The Device Assignment side panel is displayed.

8. Configure the required parameters and click Assign.

9. Click the configuration icon.

10. Select your created site from the Sites menu.

    The configuration profiles for the selected site is displayed in the Profiles tab.

11. Click on the Device Function drop-down menu to select a device.

12. On the System card, click HPE ANW Central.

13. Click Create Profile.

    The Create Profile side panel is displayed.

14. Configure the following parameters:

    1. Create as a local profile—Select this option to configure this as a local profile.

       Note:

       The Create as a local profile option is available at the Global, Site Collections, Sites, Devices, and Device Groups levels; it is not available at the Library level.
       

    2. General

       • Name—Enter the name of the profile.

       • Description—Enter a brief description for the profile.

    3. Central Configuration

       • Central Enable—Click the check box to enable Central.

       • Central Location—Enter the IP address of the On-Prem cluster.

       • Central Location VRF (AOS-CX)—Select a VRF from the drop-down menu.

15. Click Create.

16. In the Sites menu, click on your site.

17. On the Routing & Overlays card, click Manage.

18. On the Static Routing card, click Manage.

19. Click Create Profile.

    The Create Profile side panel is displayed.

20. Configure the following parameters:

1. Create as a local profile— Select this option to configure this as a local profile.

2. Name—Enter the name of the profile.

3. Description—Enter a brief description for the profile.

4. IP Routes

   • IP Type—Select either IPv4 or IPv6.

   • Destination—Enter a destination.

   • Forwarding Type—Select Next Hop.

   • Use Nexthop Alias—Check the box to use a nexthop alias.

   • Next Hop—Enter a Next Hop IP address.

   • Distance—Enter a distance.

   • Device-Specific Parameters—Check the box for one of the two provided parameters.

   • Switch Parameters

     • VRF—Select a VRF from the drop-down menu.

21. Click Create.

22. In the Sites menu, click on your site.

23. Click on the Devices list icon on the top right corner and select a device from the list.

24. On the VLANs & Networks card, click VLAN.

    1. On the VLANs & Networks card, click Manage.

    2. Select VLAN.

25. From the list, select the VLAN 1 profile.

    The Edit Profile page is displayed.

26. Modify the following parameters:

1. General

   • Save as a local profile—Check this box to save locally.

2. Layer 3

   • IPv4 Address Assignment—Select Static option.

   • IPv4 Address/Prefix—Enter the Static IP address for interface VLAN 1.

3. Switch Layer 3 Parameters

   • Switch Specific Parameters—Select this box to enable additional parameters.

   • VRF Profile—Select default from the drop-down menu.

27. Click Update.

Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 Static

Complete the following steps, after onboarding, to configure VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 Static:

1. Click the configuration icon and click Create Site, located at the top right-hand corner.

   The Create Site page is displayed.

2. Configure all required parameters and click Save.

   See Creating a Site for more information.

3. Onboard the device via ZTP, using the VLAN 1 DHCP option.

   See Connecting AOS-CX Switches for more information.

4. Click on the Overview icon.

5. Locate the Inventory and Subscriptions card and click on the Total Devices count.

   The Device Inventory page is displayed.

6. In Device Inventory, click on the Switch tab and select your device.

   Alternatively, use the search bar and/or filter to search for the device using its serial number or MAC address.

7. Click Assign.

   The Device Assignment side panel is displayed.

8. Configure the following parameters:

1. Options

   • Site—Select this option to assign a site.

   • Device Function—Select this option to assign a device funtion.

2. Device Function

   1. Switch (AOS-CX)—Select the type of device.

3. Site

   • Sites—Select a site from the drop-down menu.

9. Click Assign.

10. Click the configuration icon, located at the top right-hand corner.

11. Click Sites.

12. In the Sites menu, select your site, or click on Create Site to create a new site.

    The Profiles Management page is displayed.

13. Click on the Device Function drop-down menu to select a device type.

14. In the System card, select HPE ANW Central.

15. Click Create Profile.

    The Create Profile side panel is displayed.

16. Configure the following parameters:

    1. Create as a local profile—Select this option to create locally.

    2. General

       • Name—Enter the name of the profile.

       • Description—Enter a brief description for the profile.

    3. Central Configuration

       • Central Enable—Click the check box to enable Central.

       • Central Location—Enter the IP address of the On-Prem cluster.

       • Central Location VRF (AOS-CX only)—Select a VRF from the drop-down menu.

17. Click Create.

18. In the Sites menu, click on your site.

22. Configure the following parameters:

24. In the Sites menu, click on your site.

25. Click on the Named Objects tab.

26. In the Named Objects Management page, select Manage aliases, under the Aliases card.

27. Click Create Alias.

    The Create an Alias page is displayed.

28. Configure the following parameters:

    1. Create as a local profile—Select this option to configure this as a local profile.

    2. Access Switch

       • Name—Enter the name of the profile.

       • Description—Enter a brief description for the profile.

    3. Attributes

       • Type—Select the type of VLAN IPv4 address from the drop-down menu.

       • IP Address Assignment—Select the Static IP address option.

29. Click Create.

30. Click on the Profiles tab.

31. On the VLANs & Networks card, click VLAN.

    1. On the VLANs & Networks card, click Manage.

    2. Select VLAN.

32. Click on Create Profile.

    The Create Profile page is displayed.

33. Configure the following parameters:

1. General

   • Create as a local profile—Enter the name of the profile.

   • VLAN ID—Enter the VLAN ID.

   • Name—Enter the VLAN name.

   • Use Description Alias check box—Check this box to enable. This configuration is only applicable to switches.

   • Description—Enter a brief description for the profile.

2. Layer 3

   • Enable L3—Check this box to enable L3.

   • Admin State—Check this box to enable Admin state .

   • Use IPv4 Alias—Check this box to use an IPv4 alias and select the IPv4 alias from the drop-d7own menu.

3. Switch Layer 3 Parameters

   • Switch Specific Parameters—Select this check box to enable switch specific parameters.

   • VRF Profile—Select a VRF profile from the drop-down menu.

34. Click Create.

35. Click on the Devices list icon on the top right corner and select a device from the list.

36. Click on the Named Objects tab.

37. In the Named Objects Management page, select Manage aliases, under the Aliases card.

38. Select the previously created alias from the Click Create Alias.

    The Edit Alias page is displayed.

39. Configure the following parameters:

    1. Save as a local profile— Check this box to save as a local profile.

    2. Description—Enter a brief description for the profile.

    3. Attributes

       • IP Address Assignment—Select either Static or DHCP .

       • IPv4 Address/Prefix—Enter the IPv4 address.

40. Click Update.

41. In the Sites menu, click on your created site.

42. Click on the Profiles tab.

43. In the Interfaces card, select Port Profile. Alternatively, click on Manage.

44. Click on Create Profile.

    The Create Profile page is displayed.

45. Configure the following parameters only:

    1. Create as a local profile—Check this box to create locally.

    2. General

       • Name—Enter the name for the profile.

    3. Network Parameters

       1. VLAN Mode—Select the Access option.

       2. Access VLAN—Select the previously created VLAN.

46. Click Create.

47. Click on the Interfaces heading.

48. In the Interface Profile card, click Manage.

49. Click Create Profile.

50. Configure the following parameters:

    1. Create as a local profile— Select this option to configure this as a local profile.

    2. Name—Enter the name of the profile.

    3. Description—Enter a brief description for the profile.

    4. Device Type

       • Type—Select the device type from the drop-down menu.

       • Model—Select the model from the drop-down menu.

       • Number of ports—Select the number of ports from the drop-down menu.

    5. Uplink Port Profile

       1. Ports—Enter port number(s).

       2. Assigned Port Profile—Select a port profile from the drop-down menu.

    6. Downlink Port Profile

       1. Ports—Enter port number(s).

       2. Assigned Port Profile—Select a port profile from the drop-down menu.

51. Click Create.

52. In the Sites menu, click on your created site.

53. On the VLANs & Networks card, click VLAN.

    1. Alternatively, on the VLANs & Networks card, click Manage.

    2. Select VLAN.

54. From the list, select the VLAN 1 profile.

55. The Edit Profile page is displayed.

56. Uncheck the Admin State parameter.

57. Click Update.

Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 DHCP 

Prerequisites

The switch must first have the following configurations:

• Uplink data port

• DHCP connectivity for ZTP onboarding

Complete the following steps, before onboarding, to configure VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 DHCP:

1. Click the configuration icon.

2. In the left navigation pane, click Sites.

3. Click Create Site.

   The Create Site pop-up window is displayed.

4. Configure all required parameters and click Save.

5. In the Sites menu, click on your created site.

6. Click on the Device Function drop-down menu to select a device type.

7. In the VLANs & Networks card, select VLAN.

8. Alternatively, you can complete the following steps:

   1. On the VLANs & Netoworks card, click Manage.

   2. Select VLAN.

9. Click Create Profile.

10. Configure the following parameters:

    1. General

       • Create as a local profile—Enter the name of the profile.

       • VLAN ID—Enter the VLAN ID.

       • Name—Enter the VLAN name.

    2. Layer 3

       • Enable L3—Check this box to enable L3.

       • Admin State—Check this box to enable Admin state .

       • IPv4 Address Assignment—Select the DHCP option.

       • IPv6 Address Assignment—Select the Static option.

    3. Switch Layer 3 Parameters

       • Switch Specific Parameters—Select this check box to enable switch specific parameters.

11. Click Create.

12. Select the existing default VLAN 1 profile.

    The Edit Profile page is displayed.

13. Uncheck the Admin State parameter.

14. Set the IPv4 Address Assignment to Static.

15. Click Update.

16. In the Sites menu, click on your created site.

17. Click on the Profiles tab.

18. On the Interfaces card, click Port Profile.

    1. On the Interfaces card, click Manage.

    2. Select Port Profile.

19. On the Profiles Management card, click Manage.

20. Click Create Profile.

21. Configure the following parameters only:

    1. Create as a local profile—Check this box to create locally.

    2. General

       • Name—Enter the name of the profile.

    3. Network Parameters

       • VLAN Mode—Select the Access option.

       • Access VLAN—Select the previously created VLAN.

22. Click Create.

23. Click on the Interfaces tab.

24. On the Interface Profile card, click Manage.

25. Click Create Profile.

26. Configure the following parameters only:

    1. Create as a local profile—Check this box to create locally.

    2. Name—Enter the name of the profile.

    3. Device Type

       • Type—Select the device type from the drop-down menu.

       • Model—Select the model type from the drop-down menu.

       • Number of Ports—Select the number of ports from the drop-down menu.

    4. Uplink Port Profile

       • Ports—Enter the port number(s).

       • Assigned Port Profile—Select the assigned port profile from the drop-down menu.

27. Click Create.

28. Click on the Overview icon.

Configuring VLAN 1 DHCP to VLAN 100 Static

Prerequisites

The switch must first have the following configurations:

• Uplink data port

• DHCP connectivity for ZTP onboarding

1. Click the configuration icon.

11. Click Create.

       • IP Address—Select either IPv4 or IPv6.

       • Destination—Enter a destination.

       • Distance—Enter a value for distance.

       • Device-Specific Parameters—Select parameters specific to your device.

       • Switch Parameters

         1. VRF—Select VRF from the drop-down menu.

17. Click Create.

18. In the Sites menu, click on your created site.

19. Select the Named Objects tab.

20. In the Aliases card, click on Manage aliases.

21. Click Create Alias.

22. Configure the following required parameters:

    1. Create as a local profile—Check this box to create locally.

    2. Name—Enter the name of the profile.

    3. Attributes

       • Type—Select VLAN IPv4 Address from the drop-down menu.

       • IP Address Assignment—Select the Static option.

23. Click Create.

24. Click on the Profiles tab.

25. In the VLANs & Networks card, click VLAN.

26. In the VLAN card, click Manage.

27. Click Create Profile.

28. Configure the following required parameters:

1. General

   • Create as a local profile—Check this box to create locally.

   • VLAN ID—Enter a VLAN ID.

2. Layer 3

   • Enable L3—Check this box to enable L3.

   • Admin State—Check this box to select Admin State.

   • Use IPv4 Alias—Check this box to use IPv4 alias.

3. Switch Layer 3 Parameters

   • Switch Specific Parameters—Check this box to enable switch-specific parameters.

   • VRF Profile—Select default from the drop-down menu.

29. Click Create.

30. In the Sites menu, click on your created site.

31. Click on the Profiles tab.

32. In the Interfaces card, click on Port Profile.

33. Click Manage.

34. Click Create Profile.

35. Configure the following required parameters:

    1. Create as a local profile—Check this box to create locally.

    2. General

       • Name—Enter the name of the profile.

    3. Network Parameters

       • VLAN Mode—Select the Access option.

       • Access VLAN—Select the previously created VLAN from the drop-down menu.

36. Click Create.

37. Click on the Interfaces heading.

38. In the Interface Profile card, click Manage.

39. Click Create Profile.

40. Configure the following required parameters:

    1. Create as a local profile—Check this box to create locally.

    2. Name—Enter the name of the profile.

    3. Device Type

    • Type—Select Standalone/Member from the drop-down menu.

    • Model—Select model from the drop-down menu.

    • Number of Ports—Select the number of ports from the drop-down menu.

    • Uplink Port Profile

      • Ports—Enter the port number(s).

      • Assigned Port Profile—Select a port profile from the drop-down menu.

41. Click Create.

Adding a Device

1. Click on the Navigation icon, located at the top, right-hand corner.

2. Click on the Devices tab.

3. Click Add devices.

4. In the Add device via section, select the Serial number, MAC, part number option.

5. Enter the serial number, MAC address, and part number of your device and click Enter, then Next.

6. Search for your newly added device, using its serial number or MAC address.

7. Click on the Actions drop-down menu and click Apply subscriptions.

8. In the Apply subscriptions page, click Apply subscriptions.

9. Select a subscription from the list and click on Apply subscriptions.

10. Click on Apply.

11. Click on the Dashboard tab.

12. In Featured applications, select Launch.

13. Navigate back to the Overview page.

14. In the Inventory and Subscriptions section, click on Total Devices.

15. Click on the Switches tab and select a device.

16. Click on Assign.

17. Configure all required Device Assignment parameters.

18. Click Assign.

19. Click the configuration icon, located at the top, right-hand corner.

20. In the Sites menu, click on your created site.

21. Click on the Devices list icon and select a device from that list.

22. Click on the Named Objects tab.

23. In the Aliases card, select Manage aliases.

24. Select the previosuly created alias and update the following parameters:

    1. Save as a local profile—Check the box to save as a local profile.

    2. IPv4 Address/Prefix—Enter the IP address.

25. Click Update.

26. Set the switch online via ZTP.
