Coverage Hole(s) Detected

This insight determines the connection status of Wi-Fi clients with the APs due to poor Wi-Fi coverage. Machine learning determines when a relatively large proportion of the client minutes that consistently have low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) links. The exact location of the coverage hole can be identified from the location of the clients listed with poor coverage and implies that there is a need to deploy one more AP which will avoid the low SNR clients in the network. Coverage Holes have been detected is categorized under wireless quality since the clients in coverage holes have poor or intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity causing loss of productivity.

To access the Coverage Hole(s) Detected insight, complete the following steps:

In the Coverage Hole(s) Detected page, you can view the following details:

  • Coverage Holes - Summary—The donut charts display the impacted access points, clients, and total client minutes for a site. You can view the following charts:

    • Impacted APs—The chart displays the number of impacted APs. You can also view the number of uplink coverage hole and APs impacted by low 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz downlink SNR. Hover over the graph to view the values.

    • Impacted Clients—The chart displays the number of impacted clients. You can also view the number of uplink coverage hole and clients impacted by low 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz downlink SNR. Hover over the graph to view the values.

    • Impacted Client Minutes—The chart displays the total number of client minutes. You can also view the distribution of healthy and impacted uplink minutes. Hover over the graph to view the values.

    • Click the View Floorplan button to view the access points on the Floorplan based on the coverage type.

  • Coverage Holes - Network Impact—The graph displays the network quality in terms of SNR of the impacted access points in comparison to other access points on the site. Hover over the graph to view the count of impacted access points and other access points. You can use the drop-down list to view the coverage hole for different radios.
