Improve Access Point Coverage Resiliency

Access Point (AP) Coverage Resiliency is a feature designed to ensure uninterrupted wireless connectivity within enterprise networks, even during planned or unplanned AP downtimes. Planned downtimes, such as maintenance or software updates, and unplanned events, like hardware failures or power disruptions, can temporarily impact network coverage. This feature uses advanced analytics and spatial coverage assessments to provide insights into how neighboring APs support each other during these periods, maintaining network reliability.

By leveraging telemetry data and a recommendation engine, the system identifies potential coverage gaps and generates actionable recommendations, such as adjusting transmit power ranges or deploying supplemental AP units. It proactively enhances network resilience across all active frequency bands (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz) and only triggers recommendations when gaps in coverage resiliency are detected. This ensures optimal network performance and reliability for enterprise environments.

To access the insight, complete the following steps:

  1. Access the Insights page. For more information, see Accessing Insights Page.

  2. Click the Improved Access Point Coverage Resiliency tile.

    The insight page is displayed.

  3. In the insights page, you can view the following details:

    • Actions - Override transmit power for actionable access points—You can view the following information:

      • Recommendation—Displays the suggested configuration change.

      • Actionable Access Points—Lists APs for which the recommendation applies.

      • Access Points with Improved Coverage—Displays the APs that is expected to benefit.

        To filter recommendations by band, click All Bands, 2.4 GHz, or any other band.

        To export the recommendations, click Download CSV.

    • Access Point Coverage Score—The chart displays the AP's network coverage percentage and the number of APs across the following frequency bands:

      • 2.4 Ghz

      • 5 Ghz

      • 6 Ghz

        Hover over the bar to view specific AP counts and coverage details.

        To filter by band, select a specific band from the All bands drop-down list.

        You can also use the View Floorplan to view the APs on the floorplan with their coverage areas.
