An Interface CRC Error alert is triggered when a switch interface records a high number of cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors within a short period. By default, Aruba Central raises an alert when the interface logs 100 CRC errors in 10 minutes. Users can configure custom thresholds as needed; however, HPE recommends retaining the default threshold to ensure accurate fault detection without excessive alerting. CRC errors typically indicate data corruption occurring at the physical layer, often due to faulty cabling, connectors, or transceivers.
Alert Triggering and Clearing Conditions

Triggering Condition—The alert is triggered when the CRC error count on an interface exceeds the configured threshold within the evaluation window.

Clearing Condition— The alert automatically clears when the CRC error rate falls below the configured threshold.
Common Causes
CRC errors on an interface may occur due to:

Damaged or low-quality Ethernet cables

Loose or improperly seated connectors

Faulty or incompatible transceivers (SFPs)

Duplex mismatches between devices

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the cable path

Alert Behavior
When an Interface CRC Error alert is triggered:

You can initiate a cable test directly from HPE Aruba Networking Central on the affected interface to diagnose potential layer-1 issues.
Recommended Actions
When you receive a Interface CRC Error alert:
