Application Visibility
Application Visibility provides insights into all applications accessed by both wired and wireless users at a site. The platform now features two dedicated planets with dashboards: the Applications planet, which offers an at-a-glance overview of application usage and performance metrics, and the Clients planet, which enables detailed visibility into individual client activity and application interactions.
Application Visibility introduces deeper troubleshooting capabilities, including granular health charts updated every 15 minutes and categorized into Good, Fair, Poor, or Unknown based on client-to-application latency. Users can now apply temporal range filters (3 hours, 1 day, 7 days, or 30 days) to analyze trends in application health and UXI health directly from the application list view. If UXI devices are deployed, additional user experience metrics are available for more comprehensive diagnostics.
Aruba Access Points (APs), gateways, and specific AOS-CX switch models implement different traffic analysis mechanisms to identify and classify applications and web traffic that traverse the network. By combining various techniques like signature-based analysis, protocol heuristics, and traffic behavior analysis, Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) can accurately identify a wide range of applications and services.
The DPI functionality involves integrating the technology components of leading security partners like Enea Qosmos into the data plane of APs, gateways, and AOS-CX switches. For more information, see Deep Packet Inspection.
The DPI Engine in APs, AOS-CX switches, and gateways can identify 4500+ applications across 30+ categories. Web Content and Reputation in APs and gateways uses a multi-step fully automated process to identify and classify websites into 80+ categories.
