Viewing Client Information in the Application Dashboard

To view the client information in the application dashboard, do the following:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu having at least one application.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click on the Applications planet.

    The Application Visibility table displays a list of all active and inactive applications from the last three hours by default.

  3. Select an application from the list.

    The Application dashboard page for the selected application is displayed.

  4. Navigate to the left panel of the interface and click on the Clients planet.

    A list view of all the active Clients associated with the application is displayed. The Clients planet in the left panel also shows the total number of clients.

    The following table describes the columns in the list view. Note that columns can be customized.

    Column

    Description

    Name

    Displays the client's username or hostname or MAC address.

    Application Health

    Displays insights on how different applications are performing.

    The experience indicators are:

    • Green—Application has good health.

    • Yellow—Application has fair health.

    • Red—Application has poor health.

    • Gray—Application health is unknown.

    UXI Status

    Displays a color-coded bar denoting the user experience insights for the application. The experience indicators are:

    • Green—Application has good experience.

    • Yellow—Application has fair experience.

    • Red—Application has poor experience.

    • Gray—Application experience is unknown.

    Hover over the bar to see the percentage of good, fair, or poor experience for the application over the last 15 minutes.

    Type

    Displays the client type icon and client topology. The client type icons are:

    -The client is connected to the wireless network.

    -The client is connected to the wired network.

    MAC Address

    Displays the MAC address of the client.

    IP Address

    Displays the IP address of the client.

    Connected To

    Displays the AP name, Switch name, or Gateway name.

    This is the first layer 2 hop for the client. If the device at the layer 2 hop does not have a name, the MAC address is displayed.

    VLAN

    Displays the VLAN of the device to which the client is connected to.

    WLAN

    Displays the WLAN of the device to which the client is connected to.

    Usage

    Displays the data usage for the client for the selected application.

    Role

    Displays the role assigned to the client.

    Last Used

    Displays the date and time when the client last used the application.

    Permission

    Displays the client permissions to the application.

    Category

    Displays the category assigned to the client.

    Function

    Displays the function of the client.

    Vendor

    Displays the client vendor.

    Model/OS

    Displays the client’s Model/OS.

  5. Optionally, select the quick filter tabs to filter your clients list:

    • Type:

      • Wireless—Displays the list of clients connected to the wireless network.

      • Wired— Displays the list of clients connected to the wired network.

      Enabling both—Applications and Websites, lists all applications and websites.

    • Application State:

      • Active—Displays the list of applications or websites accessed within the last 3 hours. Enabled by default.

      • Inactive—Displays the list of all inactive applications or websites that were accessed based on the time selected in the temporal view. Enabled by default.

      Changing the time window in the list view will only refresh the data shown there, while the Application, Client, and Network panels will continue to display application counts from the last three hours.

  6. Click on a client name in the Clients list page.

    The Clients dashboard page is displayed.
