Adding Sites to a New Site Collection

Site collection is an optional feature that enables you to group one or more sites to a site collection. If a device is assigned to a site and that site is part of a site collection, then the device is automatically added to that site collection.

Note:

The Site Collections menu in the left navigation is displayed by default and shows 0 collection when no site collections are available.

To add sites to a new site collection, complete the following steps :

  1. Navigate to the Sites page.

    See Viewing Sites.

  2. Click the check box next to the site name to select the sites.

  3. Click the Actions drop-down menu and then select Move to Site Collection.

    Alternatively, you can hover over the site that you want to edit and click the ellipsis icon to select Move to Site Collection.

    The Move to Site Collection side panel is displayed.

  4. Select the Move to new Site Collection radio button.

  5. In the Name field, enter the name of the site collection.

    Ensure that the name text does not exceed 128 characters.

  6. (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description for the site collection.

    Ensure that the description text does not exceed 2048 characters.

  7. Click Assign.

    The newly added site collection is displayed in the left navigation.

Creating a New Site Collection

To create a new site collection with sites, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click the configuration icon.

    A list of devices associated with the selected site is displayed in a table.

  3. In the left navigation, click Site Collections.

    The Site Collections page is displayed in list view.

  4. Click Create Site Collection.

    The Create Site Collection panel is displayed on the right.

  5. In the Name field, enter the name of the site collection.

    Ensure that the name text does not exceed 255 characters.

  6. (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description for the site collection.

    Ensure that the description text does not exceed 2048 characters.

  7. Click on the Sites drop-down list to view all the available sites and perform the following:

    • Use the search bar at the top to filter the sites by typing part of the site name.

    • Select the check box next to the site you want to associate with the site collection. The number of selected sites is displayed above the list.

    • View or modify selection:

      • Click View Selection at the bottom of the list to review the currently selected sites.

      • Click View All to view all the sites.

      • Deselect any site from the list if needed.

      Note: You can create a site collection without adding Description and Sites.

  8. Click Create.

    The newly created site collection is displayed on the Site Collections page.

    Alternatively, you can also create a site collection using the Move to Site Collection option in the Sites list view page. For more information, see Adding a Site to an Existing Site Collection.

Updating a Site Collection

To update a site collection, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click the configuration icon.

    A list of devices associated with the selected site is displayed in a table.

  3. In the left navigation, click Site Collections.

    The Site Collections page is displayed in list view.

  4. Hover over the site collection that you want to edit and click the ellipsis icon to select Edit Site Collection.

    The Edit Site Collection panel is displayed on the right.

  5. In the Name field, edit or update the name of the site collection.

  6. In the Description field, add or update information about the site collection.

  7. In the Sites field, if multiple sites are associated with the site collection, the total number of associated sites is displayed by default. If only one site is linked, its name appears in the field.

    Click the drop-down to view the list of all available sites. Use the search bar at the top to filter the sites by typing part of the site name. You can add or remove sites from the selection as needed. After making the changes, a summary appears below the drop-down that indicates the number of sites added or removed done during the current edit.

  8. Click Save.
