Editing an Alias

To edit an alias, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click the configurationicon.

    The Network Overview page is displayed.

  3. Click Library.

  4. Click the Named Objects tab on the right.

  5. Under Aliases tile, click Manage Aliases.

    The Aliases table is displayed with a list of aliases.

  6. In the Aliases table, click the row for the alias that you want to edit.

    The Edit Alias panel is displayed on the right.

    Note:

    Aliases that are created at the library level can only be assigned at Global scope. HPE Aruba Networking Central displays an error if you assign an alias created at the library level to any other scope.

  7. Configure the following parameters:

    • Name—Enter a name of the alias.

    • Description—Enter a description of the alias.

    • Attributes Type—Select one of the following from the drop-down list:

      • Host—Select this attribute type to configure the following parameters:

        • IPv4 Address—Select the IPv4 Address checkbox under Options and enter the IPv4 address in the IPv4 Address field.

        • IPv6 Address—Select the IPv6 Address checkbox under Options and enter the IPv6 address in the IPv6 Address field.

      • Identity Profile ControlSelect this attribute type to enable Identity Profile Control.

      • Network—Select this attribute type to configure the following parameters:

        • IPv4 Subnet—Select the IPv4 Subnet checkbox under Options and enter the IPv4 subnet address in the IPv4 Subnet field.

        • IPv6 Prefix—Select the IPv6 Prefix checkbox under Options and enter the IPv6 prefix address in the IPv6 Prefix field.

      • EssidSelect this attribute type to enter the Extended Service Set Identifier (Essid) name in the Essid field. ESSID refers to the ID used for identifying an extended service set.

      • VLANSelect this attribute type to enter the VLAN ID ranges from the VLAN ID ranges field .

      • Echo Source IP AddressSelect this attribute type to set the source IPv4 address for BFD echo packets from the Echo Source IP Address field.

      • Network Destination—Select this attribute type to enter the network destination addresses. You can configure the following parameters:

        • IPv4 Address—Select the IPv4 Address checkbox and enter the IPv4 address in the IPv4 Address field.

        • IPv4 Subnet—Select the IPv4 Subnet checkbox and enter the IPv4 subnet address in the IPv4 Subnet field.

        • IPv6 Address—Select the IPv6 Address checkbox and enter the IPv6 address in the IPv6 Address field.

        • IPv6 Prefix—Select the IPv6 Prefix checkbox and enter the IPv6 prefix address in the IPv6 Prefix field.

        • Domain Name—Select the Domain Name checkbox as the network destination type and enter the domain name in the Domain Name field.

      • DNS Server List—Select this attribute type to enter the DNS server list. You can configure the following parameters:

        • IP Address Format—Select the IP address format for the DNS server.

        • IP Address —Enter the IP address for DNS server.

        • Device-Specific Parameters—Select Switch, Gateway, or both for the DNS server.

          • Switch Parameters—If you select Switch, then select the VRF Profile for the switch. To create a new VRF profile, click New VRF. For more information, see VRF Profile.

            Note: You can add a maximum of three DNS servers per VRF.
          • Gateway Parameters—If you select Gateway, then select the Uplink VLAN for the gateway. To create a new VLAN profile, click New VLAN. For more information see, VLAN Profile.

      • NTP Server List—Select this attribute type to enter the NTP server list. You can configure the following parameters:

        • Server Address—Select IPv4, IPv6, or FQDN.

          • IPv4—If you select IPv4, then enter the IPv4 address.
          • IPv6—If you select IPv6, then enter the IPv6 address.
          • FQDN—If you select FQDN, then enter domain name.

        • Burst Mode—Select the optional iBurst Mode to further hasten the synchronization.

      • VLAN IPv4 Address—Select this attribute type to configure how IPv4 addresses are assigned to the VLAN:

        • Static
        • DHCP

      • VLAN IPv6 Address—Select this attribute type to configure how IPv6 addresses are assigned to the VLAN:

        • Static
        • DHCP
      • IPv4 Address—Select this attribute type to set a static IPv4 address.
      • IPv6 Address—Select this attribute type to set a static IPv6 address.
      • Default Gateway IPv4 address—Select this attribute type to enter the IPv4 default gateway address, which will be set in the device's route information.

      • Nexthop IPv4 Address—Select this attribute type to enter the IPv4 nexthop address, which will be set in the device's route information.

      • Nexthop IPv6 Address—Select this attribute type to enter the IPv6 nexthop address, which will be set in the device's route information.

      • IPv4 Prefix—Select this attribute type to set an IPv4 prefix.

      • IPv6 Prefix—Select this attribute type to set an IPv6 prefix.

      • VLAN description—Select this attribute type to set a VLAN description.

      • Switchport—Select this attribute type to enter VLAN parameters for the switchport.

        • Access— Select this interface mode to carry a single VLAN specified as the Access VLAN.

        • Trunk— Select this interface mode to carry packets for multiple VLANs specified in the Allowed VLANs field.

          • Native VLAN—Select the native VLAN from the drop-down list. The native VLAN is the VLAN on a trunk port that carries untagged traffic (frames that are sent without a VLAN tag).

          • Tag Native VLAN—Enable this attribute to ensure that untagged frames are still tagged with the native VLAN.

      • VLAN Voice Enable—Select this attribute type to enable automatic discovery and configuration for connected VoIP endpoints (such as IP phones) using the LLDP-MED (Link Layer Discovery Protocol - Media Endpoint Discovery) protocol.

      • Auth Server Address—Select this attribute type to configure internal or external RADIUS and TACAS servers to authenticate clients who need access to the network.

      • Auth Server Shared Secret—Select this attribute type to enter the shared secret key between the gateway and the authentication server. The maximum length is 128 characters.

      • VLAN Active Gateway—Select this attribute type to enter the default active gateway IP for the VLAN.

        • Virtual Gateway L3 Source MAC— Enable this attribute to configure the virtual gateway MAC address as the source MAC for routed packets.

        • Active Gateway IPv4 Address—Specify the IPv4 address of the default active gateway.

        • Active Gateway MAC Address v4—Specify the virtual MAC address of the default active gateway.

        • Active Gateway IPv6 Address—Specify the IPv6 address of the default active gateway.

        • Active Gateway MAC Address v6—Specify the virtual MAC address of the default active gateway.

  8. Click Update.

    The updated alias details are displayed in the Aliases table.
