AP System Profile

The AP System profile card allows you to create and manage AP system profiles.

Creating an AP System Profile

To create an AP System profile, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the configurationicon.
    The Profiles tab is displayed.

  2. In the left navigation menu, select Devices.

    The Devices list view is displayed.

  3. Select an AP from the list.

    The Profiles Management view for the selected AP is displayed.

  4. On the System card, click AP System.

    Alternatively, you can complete the following steps:

    1. On the System card, click Manage.

    2. On the AP System card, click Manage.

    The AP System list view is displayed.

  5. Click Create Profile.

    The Create Profile side panel is displayed

  6. Configure the parameters as described in the following table.

    Parameter

    Description

    Create as a local profile

    Select this option if you want to configure this profile as local.

    Note: The Create as a local profile option is available at the Global, Site Collections, Sites, Devices, and Device Groups levels; it is not available at the Library level.

    Name

    Enter the name of the AP system profile.

    Description

    Enter a brief description for the AP system profile.

    Use Location Alias Select this checkbox to use the alias location.
    Location Alias

    Select the alias location from the drop-down list. This parameter is displayed only if the Use Location Alias checkbox is selected.

    To create a new location alias, click New Location Alias and configure the following parameters, and then click Create:

    • Name—Enter a name for the alias.

    • Description—Enter a description for the alias.

    • Type—Select the location type from the drop-down list.

    • Location—Enter the alias location. Range: 1 – 32 characters.

    Location

    Enter the location of the device. This parameter is displayed only if the Use Location Alias checkbox is unselected.

    Contact

    Enter the contact details.

    Country Code

    Select a country code from the drop-down list. When the country code is set to Automatic, the AP inherits the country code from the site.

    Timezone

    Select a timezone from the drop-down list. When the timezone is set to Automatic, the AP inherits the timezone from the site.

    LED Display

    Select this option to enable LED display for an AP.

    USB Port

    The USB port can be enabled or disabled based on your uplink preferences. If you do not want to use the cellular uplink or 3G/4G modem in your current network setup, you can clear the USB Port check box to disable the USB port. By default, the USB port is enabled.

    Reboot the AP for the changes to take effect.

    USB Power Override

    Select the USB Power Override check box to enable the override. By default, the USB Power Override is disabled.

    Reboot the AP for the changes to take effect.

    Advertise AP Health IE Select this checkbox to advertise the AP Health information element.
    Use AP Location Altitude Alias Select this checkbox to use the AP location altitude alias.
    AP Location Altitude Alias

    Select the AP location altitude alias from the drop-down list. This parameter is displayed only if the Use AP Location Altitude Alias checkbox is selected.

    To create a new AP location altitude alias, click New AP Location Altitude Alias and configure the following parameters, and then click Create:

    • Name—Enter a name for the AP location altitude alias.

    • Description—Enter a description for the AP location altitude alias.

    • Type—Select the AP location altitude type from the drop-down list.

    • AP Location Altitude—Enter the AP location altitude value.

    Access Point Location Altitude

    Enter the access point location altitude in meters.

    Note: This parameter is displayed only if the Use AP Location Altitude Alias checkbox is unselected. It is supported for AP-584, AP-585, AP-585EX, AP-587, AP-587EX, AP-634, AP-635, AP-654, AP-655, AP-674, AP-675, AP-677, AP-679, AP-734, AP-735, AP-754, and AP-755 models.

    Enable Automatic AP Placement

    Select this check box to enable automatic placement of the AP on the floorplan.

    Note: This parameter is supported for AP-584, AP-585, AP-585EX, AP-587, AP-587EX, AP-634, AP-635, AP-654, AP-655, AP-674, AP-675, AP-677, AP-679, AP-734, AP-735, AP-754, and AP-755 models.

    Advertise AP Location

    Select this check box to advertise the AP location.

    LACP Mode

    Select the LACP mode from one of the following options:

    • Passive—Indicates not in an active negotiation state. This is the default option.
    • Active—Active negotiation state.
    • Disabled—Option to disable the feature.

    Recovery WLAN Timer

    Enter the Recovery WLAN Timer duration. It specifies the duration an AP waits before broadcasting the Recovery SSID after losing connectivity to Central.

    Recovery SSID backoff timer

    Enter the recovery SSID backoff timer duration in minutes.

    Default: 3 minutes

    Range: 3-300 minutes

    Enable EAP Fragmentation

    Select this check box to enable EAP fragmentation.

    EAP Fragmentation MTU

    Enter the EAP fragmentation MTU in Bytes.

    Range: 576 to 1300 Bytes.

    Preference of SAN over CN for Certificates

    Select this check box to use Subject Alternative Name (SAN) as the primary validation field, while Common Name (CN) becomes the secondary validation field during certificate validation.

    Logging

    Allows you to set the message security level for the following log categories:

    • AP-Debug
    • Network
    • Security
    • System
    • User
    • User-Debug
    • Wireless
    AP-Debug

    Select the message security level from one of the following options for each category:

    • Alert—Any condition requiring immediate attention and correction.

    • Critical—Any critical conditions, such as hard drive errors.

    • Debug—Messages containing information for debugging purposes.

    • Emergency—Panic conditions that occur when the system becomes unstable.

    • Error—Error conditions.

    • Info—Messages of general interest to system users.

    • Notice—Significant events of a non-critical and normal nature.

    • Warning—Warning messages.

    Default: Warning.

  7. Click Create.

AP System List View Actions

  • To edit a profile, complete the following steps:

    1. Click anywhere on the row of the profile in the list view.

      The profile edit view is displayed in the side panel.

    2. Edit the required parameters.

    3. Click Update.

  • To delete a profile, complete the following steps:

    1. Hover on the profile name.

    2. Click the delete icon.

  • To search for a profile, type the profile name in the search bar.

    The search bar displays dynamic results as soon as you start typing.
