EVPN Profile
Ethernet VPN (EVPN) is used as the overlay control plane to exchange Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity information between different Layer 2/3 domains.
EVPN enables Virtual Tunnel Endpoints (VTEPs) to exchange endpoint information and provide Layer 2 network connectivity for servers. An underlay network must exist between the VTEPs to route packets between data centers.
Creating an EVPN Profile
To create an EVPN profile, complete the following steps:

In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the configuration
icon.
The Profiles tab is displayed. -
In the left navigation menu, select one of the following options:

Library—This is the default selection. If you create profiles in the Library, then you must assign scope and device functions to the profiles. For more information, see Assigning Scope to an EVPN Profile.

Global—If you create profiles at the Global level, then the profiles have Global scope assigned by default.
-
Site Collections—If you create profiles at the Site Collections level, then the profiles have site collection scope assigned by default.
-
Sites—If you create profiles at the Site level, then the profiles have site scope assigned by default.

Devices—If you create profiles at the Device level, then the profiles have device scope assigned by default.

Device Groups—If you create profiles at the Device Group level, then the profiles have device group scope assigned by default.
Note:- To create profiles at the Global level, select the device type from the Device Function drop-down list before step 4.
- To create profiles at the Site Collections, Sites, Devices, and Device Group level, complete the following steps before step 4:
- Select Site Collection, Site, Device, or Device Group in the left navigation menu.
- Select a Site Collection, Site, Device, or Device Group from the list view depending on the level where you are creating the profile.
- Select the device type from the Device Function drop-down list.

On the Routing & Overlays card, click EVPN.
Alternatively, you can complete the following steps:-
On the Routing & Overlays card, click Manage.

On the EVPN card, click Manage.
The EVPN list view is displayed.

Click Create Profile.
The Create Profile side panel is displayed. -
Configure the following EVPN profile parameters:
-
Create as a local profile—Select this option if you want to configure this profile as local. The Create as a local profile option is available at the Global, Site Collections, Sites, Devices, and Device Groups levels; it is not available at the Library level.

Name—Enter the name of the EVPN profile.
-
Description—Enter a description for the EVPN profile.
-
ARP Suppression—Select this checkbox to reduce the flooding of ARP messages in the EVPN network.
-
ND Suppression—Select this checkbox to reduce the flooding of IPv6 Neighbor Discovery (ND) messages within the EVPN network. This option is disabled by default.

Redistribute Local MAC—Select this checkbox to enable Type-2 route advertisement for the local MAC address of the SVI interfaces corresponding to the EVPN-enabled VLANs. This option is disabled by default.

Redistribute Local SVI—Select this checkbox to enable Type-2 route advertisement for the local IP address and MAC address of the SVI interfaces corresponding to the EVPN-enabled VLANs. This option is disabled by default.

MAC Mobility Window—Specify the MAC move time limit in seconds for MAC dampening to take effect. Range: 1 to 1000 seconds. Default: 180 seconds.

MAC Mobility Threshold—Specify the number of MAC moves for MAC dampening to take effect. Range: 2 to 10. Default: 5.

Expand the Inter Fabric Settings accordion to configure the following parameters:
-
Allow IMET Relay—Select this checkbox to allow the IMET routes to be relayed between eBGP peers. This option is disabled by default.

Tunnel Bridging Mode—Select this checkbox to enable the bridging between dynamic tunnels.

To add VLANs, click + in the VLANs table and configure the following parameters:
-
VLAN—Select a VLAN from the drop-down list. To add a new VLAN, click New VLAN from the drop-down list.

Route Distinguisher—Specify a unique number prepended to the advertised routes within the VLAN. It ensures support for overlapping IP addresses and MACs across different tenants. The available options are:
-
AUTO—Specifies automatic route filtering.
-
ASN:NN—Specifies the Autonomous System Number (ASN) followed by an administrative number (NN). It can be a 1-byte or 4-byte value. If the AS number is 2-byte, the administrative number is 4-byte; if the AS number is 4-byte, the administrative number is 2-byte.
IP:NN—Specifies the IP address followed by an administrative number (NN). The IP address is a 4-byte value and the administrative number is 2 bytes.

Route Targets—Specify route targets(RTs) to control the import and export of EVPN routes only to the systems in the network for which routes are needed. Configure the following parameters:

Type—Specify the type of the route target: The available options are:
-
AUTO—Specifies automatic route filtering.
-
ASN:NN—Specifies the Autonomous System Number (ASN) followed by an administrative number (NN). It can be a 1-byte or 4-byte value. If the AS number is 2-byte, the administrative number is 4-byte; if the AS number is 4-byte, the administrative number is 2-byte.

IP:NN—Specifies the IP address followed by an administrative number (NN). The IP address is a 4-byte value and the administrative number is 2 bytes.

Value—Enter the value for the route target in the format defined by the selected type.
-
Apply To—Select the direction in which the route target should be applied:
-
Import—Applies the route target to incoming EVPN routes.
-
Export—Applies the route target to outgoing EVPN routes.
-
Both—Applies the route target to both import and export directions.
-

Redistribute Host Route—Select this checkbox to enable Type-2 advertisement to include the L3VNI, RT, and router MAC of the associated IP-VRF. It is applicable only in Symmetric routing where L3VNI is configured. This option is disabled by default.

To add VLAN bundles, click + in the VLAN Bundles table and configure the following parameters:

Enable VLAN Bundle—Select this checkbox to enable the VLAN bundle. This option is enabled by default.
Name—Enter the name for the VLAN bundle.
VLANs—Specify the range or list of VLANs included in the VLAN bundle.

VLAN ID and Tag ID—Specify the VLAN ID to which the Ethernet tag is configuring and tag ID for the VLAN. Click + to add another entry.

IP:NN—Specifies the IP address followed by an administrative number (NN). The IP address is a 4-byte value and the administrative number is 2 bytes.

Click Create.
The newly created profile is displayed in the EVPN list.

To edit a profile, complete the following steps:

Click anywhere on the row of the profile in the list view.
The Edit Profile view is displayed in the side panel.

Edit the required parameters.
-
Click Update.

To delete a profile, hover on the profile name, and click the delete
icon. -
To search for a profile, type the profile name in the search bar. The search bar displays dynamic results as soon as you start typing.
Assigning Scope to an EVPN Profile
You must assign a scope and device function to an EVPN profile created in the Library.
To assign scope to a profile, complete the following steps:

In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the configuration
icon.
The Profiles tab is displayed. -
Ensure that the default option Library is selected in the left navigation menu.

On the Routing & Overlays card, click EVPN.
Alternatively, you can complete the following steps:-
On the Routing & Overlays card, click Manage.

On the EVPN card, click Manage.
The EVPN list view is displayed.
-

Hover on the profile to which you want to assign a scope and click the Ellipsis
icon. -
Select Assign.
The Assign Profile side panel is displayed.

Select the device types from Device Function list.

To add a scope, click the Add
icon on the Scopes table. -
Select a scope from the following Scope Level options in the drop-down list.

Global—Selecting this option assigns the scope at the Global level.
-
Site Collections—Select the site collections from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.
-
Sites—Select the sites from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.
-
Devices—Select the devices from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.

Device Groups—Select the device groups from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.

Click Add.
The Scopes table displays the newly added scopes.

Click Assign.
The EVPN list displays the device functions and number of scopes assigned to the profile.

To unassign a scope from a profile, complete the following steps:

Hover on the profile name and click the Ellipsis
icon. -
Select Unassign.

Select the required scope and click Unassign.

To customize the EVPN profile list, click the Customize Columns icon
