Hardware Profile

The Hardware Profile provides advanced configuration options for both power and connectivity. It supports Quick PoE, which powers PoE ports before the line card finishes booting, and Always-On PoE, which keeps Power over Ethernet active when the line card or module resets. Additionally, it enables the configuration of system interface groups, allowing the operating speed to be set for hardware-defined port groups based on the switch SKU

Note:

You can configure the Hardware Profile only at the device level.

Creating a Hardware Profile

To create a Hardware Profile, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the configurationicon.

    The Profiles tab is displayed.

  2. In the left navigation menu, select Devices.

    The Devices list view is displayed.

  3. Select a switch from the list.

    The Profiles Management view for the selected switch is displayed.

  4. On the Interfaces card, click Hardware Profile.

  5. Alternatively, you can complete the following steps:

    1. On the Interfaces card, click Manage.

    2. On the Hardware Profile card, click Manage.

    The Hardware Profile list view is displayed.

  6. Click Create Profile.

    The Create Profile side panel is displayed.

  7. Configure the following general Hardware Profile parameters:

    • Name—Enter the name of the Hardware profile.

    • Description—Enter the description for the Hardware profile.

    • Type—Type defines the switch form: Standalone, Stack, or Modular.

  8. Under POE Configuration, configure the following parameters based on the type of switch form.

    • If the Type is Standalone, configure the following parameters:

      • Quick PoE—Select the checkbox to enable Quick PoE. When enabled, PoE ports are powered before the line card finishes booting. This option is disabled by default.

      • Always on PoE—Select the checkbox to enable Always On PoE. When enabled, the switch continues to provide power across a soft reboot. This option is enabled by default.

    • If the Type is Modular or Stack, complete the following steps:

      1. In the PoE configuration table, hover over the row of Slot IDs or Member ID and click Edit.

        The PoE Configuration side-panel is displayed.

      2. In the PoE Configuration side-panel, configure the PoE parameters as described in the previous step.

  9. Under System Interface Group Configuration, configure the following parameters:

    • Interface Group—Select the interface group from the drop-down list. Configure the speed for the selected interface group. Some switch models require that all ports within a group operate at compatible speeds. After changing the group speed, only transceivers that support the new speed will be enabled.

      Note:

      If the configured speed is not supported by the transceiver, the interface will go down.

    • Speed—Select the speed from the drop-down list. When multiple interface groups are selected, only speeds common to all selected groups are available.

    • If the Type is Modular or Stack, complete the following steps:

      1. In the PoE configuration table, hover over the row of Slot IDs or Member ID and click Edit.

        The PoE Configuration side-panel is displayed.

      2. In the PoE Configuration side-panel, configure the PoE parameters as described in the previous step.

  10. Click Create.

    The newly created profile is displayed in the Hardware Profile list.

  11. To edit a profile, complete the following steps:

    1. Click anywhere on the row of the profile in the list view.

      The Edit Profile view is displayed in the side panel.

    2. Edit the required parameters.

    3. Click Update.

  12. To delete a profile, hover on the profile name, and click the delete icon.

  13. To search for a profile, type the profile name in the search bar. The search bar displays dynamic results as soon as you start typing.
