OSPF Profile

Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) is a link state-based IGP (Interior Gateway Protocol) routing protocol applied to routers grouped into OSPF areas identified by the routing configuration on each routing switch.

Creating a OSPF Profile

To create an OSPF profile, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the configurationicon.
    The Profiles tab is displayed.

  2. In the left navigation menu, select one of the following options:

    • Library—This is the default selection. If you create profiles in the Library, then you must assign scope and device functions to the profiles. For more information, see Assigning Scope to an OSPF Profile.

    • Global—If you create profiles at the Global level, then the profiles have Global scope assigned by default.

    • Site Collections—If you create profiles at the Site Collections level, then the profiles have site collection scope assigned by default.

    • Sites—If you create profiles at the Site level, then the profiles have site scope assigned by default.

    • Devices—If you create profiles at the Device level, then the profiles have device scope assigned by default.

    • Device Groups—If you create profiles at the Device Group level, then the profiles have device group scope assigned by default.

    Note:

    • To create profiles at the Global level, select the device type from the Device Function drop-down list before step 4.

    • To create profiles at the Site Collections, Sites, Devices, and Device Group level, complete the following steps before step 4:

      1. Select Site Collection, Site, Device, or Device Group in the left navigation menu.

      2. Select a Site Collection, Site, Device, or Device Group from the list view depending on the level where you are creating the profile.

      3. Select the device type from the Device Function drop-down list.

  3. On the Routing & Overlays card, click OSPF.
    Alternatively, you can complete the following steps:

    1. On the Routing & Overlays card, click Manage.

    2. On the OSPF card, click Manage.

    The OSPF list view is displayed.

  4. Click Create Profile.
    The Create Profile side panel is displayed.

  5. Select the Create as a local profile checkbox if you want to configure this profile as local.

    Note:

    The Create as a local profile checkbox is available at the Global, Site Collections, Sites, Devices, and Device Groups levels. It is not available at the Library level.

  6. (Optional) Enter the description for the OSPF profile in the Description field.

You can configure an OSPF profile in the following modes:

To delete or search for a profile, complete the following steps:

  • To delete a OSPF profile, hover over the profile name, and click the delete icon.

  • To search for a profile, type the profile name in the search bar.
    The search bar displays dynamic results as soon as you start typing.

Configuring an OSPF Profile in the Basic Mode

To configure an OSPF profile in the Basic mode, complete the following steps:

  1. In the OSPF Create Profile side panel, in the Mode field, select Basic and click Next.

    The Basic: Configure Parameters side panel is displayed.

  2. In the Add an OSPF Router section, configure the following parameters:

    • Process ID—Enter a process ID.

    • Router ID—Enter a router ID.

    • OSPF Version—This is set to V2 and cannot be edited in Basic mode.

    • VRF—Select the VRF profile from the drop-down menu.

  3. In the Configure OSPF Parameters section, configure the following parameters:

    • Default Metric—Enter the default metric value.

    • Redistribute Connected—Select this checkbox to enable the redistribute connected option.

    • Enable Static Route Redistribution—Select this checkbox to enable static route redistribution.

    • Enable Passive Mode—Select this checkbox to enable passive mode.

  4. Click Next.

    The Basic: Add Area side panel is displayed.

  5. In the Add an OSPF Router section, click the Add icon.

    1. Configure the following parameters:

      • Area ID—Enter the area ID.

      • Area Type—Select the area type from the drop-down menu.

      • Default Metric—Enter the default metric value.

    2. Click Add.

  6. Click Next.

    The Basic: Summary side panel is displayed.

  7. Verify the configured parameters and click Create.

Configuring an OSPF Profile in the Advanced Mode

To configure an OSPF profile in the Advanced mode, complete the following steps:

  1. In the OSPF Create Profile side panel, in the Mode field, select Advanced and click Next.

    The Advanced: Configure Parameters side panel is displayed.

  2. In the Add an OSPF Router section, configure the following parameters:

    • Process ID—Enter a process ID.

    • Router ID—Enter a router ID.

    • OSPF Version—Select the OSPF version from the drop-down menu.

    • VRF—Select the VRF profile from the drop-down menu.

  3. In the Configure OSPF Parameters section, configure the following parameters:

    • Enable Passive Mode—Select this checkbox to enable passive mode.

    • Enable BFD All Interfaces—Select this checkbox to enable Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) on all interfaces.

    • Default Metric—Enter the default metric value.

    • Max Path—Enter a maximum path value.

    • Router LSA—Select this checkbox to enable router Link State Advertisement (LSA). If selected, the following configuration parameters are displayed:

      • Enable Max Metric On Startup—Select this checkbox to enable the max metric on startup option. If selected, if the Max Metric field is displayed.

        • Enter the number of seconds in the Max Metric field.

      • Enable Max Metric Include Stub—Select this checkbox to enable the max metric include stub option.

    • Enable Graceful Restart Interval—Select this checkbox to enable the graceful restart interval option. If selected, the Restart Interval field is displayed.

      • Enter the number of seconds in the Restart Interval field.

  4. Click Next.

    The Advanced: Configure Redistribution side panel is displayed.

  5. Configure the following parameters:

    • Redistribute Connected—Select this checkbox to enable the redistribute connected option.

    • Enable Loopback Redistribution—Select this checkbox to enable loopback redistribution.

    • Enable Static Route Redistribution—Select this checkbox to enable static route redistribution.

    • Enable OSPF Redistribution—Select this checkbox to enable OSPF redistribution. If selected, the OSPF ID field is displayed.

      • Enter the ID in the OSPF ID field.

    • Enable BGP Redistribution—Select this checkbox to enable Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) redistribution.

    • Enable RIP Redistribution—Select this checkbox to enable Routing Information Protocol (RIP) redistribution.

  6. Click Next.

    The Advanced: Add Area side panel is displayed.

  7. In the Add an OSPF Router section, click the Add icon.

    1. Configure the following parameters:

      • Area ID—Enter the area ID.

      • Area Type—Select the area type from the drop-down menu.

      • Default Metric—Enter the default metric value.

      • Encryption Type—In the Encryption section, select the type of encryption from the Encryption Type drop-down menu. If an option other than None or NULL is selected, the Text Type field is displayed.

        1. Set the text type to Plain Text.

          The Plain Text field is displayed.

        2. Enter the text in the Plain Text field.

      • Text Type—In the Authentication section, set the text type to Plain Text.

        The Plain Text field is displayed after the Algorithm field.

        • Enter the text in the Plain Text field.

      • Algorithm—In the Authentication section, select the type of algorithm from the Algorithm drop-down menu. If an option other than None is selected, the SPI ID field is displayed after the Plain Text field.

        • Enter the ID in the SPI ID field.

    2. Click Add.

  8. Click Next.

    The Advanced: Summary side panel is displayed.

  9. Verify the configured parameters and click Create.

Assigning Scope to an OSPF Profile

You must assign a scope and device function to an OSPF profile created in the Library.

To assign scope to a profile, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the configurationicon.
    The Profiles tab is displayed.

  2. Ensure that the default option Library is selected in the left navigation menu.

  3. On the Routing & Overlays card, click OSPF.
    Alternatively, you can complete the following steps:

    1. On the Routing & Overlays card, click Manage.

    2. On the OSPF card, click Manage.

    The OSPF list view is displayed.

  4. Hover on the profile to which you want to assign a scope and click the ellipsis icon.

  5. Select Assign.

    The Assign Profile side panel is displayed.

  6. Select the device types from Device Function list.

  7. To add a scope, click the Add icon on the Scopes table.

  8. Select a scope from the following Scope Level options in the drop-down list.

    • Global—Selecting this option assigns the scope at the Global level.

    • Site Collections—Select the site collections from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.

    • Sites—Select the sites from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.

    • Devices—Select the devices from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.

    • Device Groups—Select the device groups from the Assign to Scope drop-down list.

  9. Click Add.

    The Scopes table displays the newly added scopes.

  10. Click Assign.

    The Route Map list displays the device functions and number of scopes assigned to the profile.

  11. To unassign a scope from a profile, complete the following steps:

    1. Hover on the profile name and click the ellipsis icon.

    2. Select Unassign.

    3. Select the required scope and click Unassign.

  12. To customize the OSPF profile list, click the Customize Columns icon.
