Assigning a Role

After creating a role, you must assign the role to a Global scope and device function.

Note:

Currently, you can create and assign library configurations only at the Global scope and not for specific sites, device groups, or site collections.

To assign a role, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click the configuration icon.

    The Network Overview page is displayed.

  3. Click Library.

  4. Click the Roles & Policies tab on the right.

  5. Under Roles card, click Manage.

    The Roles table is displayed with a list of roles.

  6. Hover over the role that you want to edit and click the ellipsis icon.

  7. Select Assign.

    The Assign Role panel is displayed on the right.

  8. Click the Assign role to Global scope check box.

    Note:

    Roles that are created at the library level can only be assigned at Global scope. HPE Aruba Networking Central displays an error if you assign a role created at the library level to any other scope.

  9. Under Applies to Device Function, select a specific or multiple device functions from the following list:

    • All Device Functions

    • Mobility AP

    • Microbranch AP

    • Mobility Gateway

    • Switch

  10. Click Assign.

    The Roles table displays the updated information for the role under the Device Function column.
