Editing a Role

You can modify the description of the role that you created in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

To edit the description of a role, complete the following steps:

1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

   Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

   The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

2. Click the configuration icon.

   The Network Overview page is displayed.

3. Click Library.

4. Click the Roles & Policies tab on the right.

5. Under Roles tile, click Manage.

   The Roles table is displayed with a list of roles.

6. Hover over the role you want to edit and click the ellipsis icon.

7. Select Edit Role.

   The Edit User Role panel is displayed on the right.

8. Under Properties tab, modify the role description information under Description.

   Note:

   You cannot edit the Name and GPID parameters. For information on creating roles, see Creating a Role.

9. Click Update.

   The Roles table is displayed with the updated description of the role.

Viewing List of Referenced Policies

You can view a list of referenced policies for each role. The referenced policy details displays the policy name and the number of rules associated with the policy for the assigned role.

To view the referenced policy details for a role, complete the following steps:

1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

   Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

   The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

2. Click the configuration icon.

   The Network Overview page is displayed.

3. Click Library.

4. Click the Roles & Policies tab on the right.

5. Under Roles tile, click Manage.

   The Roles table is displayed with a list of roles.

6. Hover over the role that you want to edit and click it.

7. The Edit User Role panel is displayed on the right.

   Under References tab, you can view the following information:

   • Policy—Displays the policy name for the assigned role.

   • Rules—Displays the number of rules associated with the policy.

   • Profile—Displays the names of specific configuration profiles or entities associated with the policy.

   • Type—Indicates the category or function of the profile.

   Note:

   You cannot edit a default role with the description of a system role default. Note that a default role is a mandatory role that is automatically created for every wireless profile in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

8. (Optional) Click the policy name under the Policy column to view the following information of the policy:

   • Source

   • Destination

   • Service/Application

   • Action

   • Description
