Assigning a Scope to an Alias
After creating an alias, you can assign a role and device function to the alias.
To assign an alias, complete the following steps:

In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.
Alternatively, you can click the expand
icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

Click the configuration
icon.The Network Overview page is displayed.

Click Library.

Click the Named Objects tab.

Under Aliases tile, click Manage aliases.
The Aliases table is displayed with a list of aliases.

Hover over the alias that you want to edit and click the ellipsis
icon. -
Select Assign.
The Assign Profile panel is displayed on the right. Here you can assign Device Function and Scopes to the selected alias.

Under Device Function, select a specific or multiple device functions from the following list:

Access Switch

Aggregation Switch
-
Core Switch
-
AOS-S Access Switch
-
AOS-S Aggregation Switch
-
AOS-S Core Switch
-
Bridge
-
Mobility AP
-
Microbranch AP
-
Mobility Gateway

To assign Scopes, click the + icon. Under Scopes you can see the currently assigned scope level and the site name where the role is assigned to.
The Add Scope pane appears where you can select the scope level that you want to assign to the alias from the following list:-
Global—Alias is assigned to the global scope.

Site Collections—If you select this option, Assign to Scope drop-down list appears from where you can select the site collection and add the alias to that specific site collection.

Sites—If you select this option, Assign to Scope drop-down list appears from where you can select the site to which you want to assign the alias. It also displays the currently assigned sites to the selected alias.

Devices—f you select this option, Assign to Scope drop-down list appears from where you can select the device to which you want to assign the alias.
