Editing AirMatch Service Configuration

By default, RF optimization is enabled on APs in HPE Aruba Networking Central. The AirMatch service on HPE Aruba Networking Central collects RF environment data from each AP in a network and automatically adjusts the transmission power and channel allocation on the APs. This functionality is managed through the AirMatch Service option in the WebUI.

Note:

The RF optimization configurations under AirMatch Service are created by default. However, you can edit some of its parameters as needed.

To edit AirMatch service configuration on APs, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the configuration icon.

    The Configuration Overview page is displayed.

  2. In the left navigation menu, select Global.

  3. Click the Services tab.

    The Services Management page is displayed.

  4. Under the AirMatch Service card, click Manage.

  5. In the AirMatch Service table, click anywhere on the default AirMatch Service row.

    The Edit Service side panel is displayed.

  6. Edit the following parameters as per the requirement:

    • Name—Name of the AirMatch service. This is a non-editable parameter.

    • Description—Brief description of the AirMatch service. This is a non-editable parameter.

    • AirMatch Optimization—Enables RF optimization. This check box is enabled by default.

      Note:

      To disable RF optimization, clear the AirMatch Optimization check box.

    • Deploy Hour—Enter the hour of the day (in 24-hour format) when you want to deploy RF optimization. Default—5 (5:00 AM). Valid range—0 to 23.

    • Deploy Window—Enter the duration (in hours) within which AirMatch must complete RF optimization. Default—2. Valid range—1 to 6.

      Note:

      This parameter limits the deployment duration to reduce the risk of client disruptions. For example, RF changes such as channel reassignments can briefly disconnect clients. Deploy Window ensures that such deployments occur within a defined timeframe.

    • Wireless Coverage Tuning—Configure one of the following wireless coverage tuning options for each radio (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz):

      • Conservative—Minimize changes to existing channel and power settings. It prioritizes preserving network stability over optimal RF health.

      • Balanced (Default)—Dynamically adjust radio channels and power while keeping a balance between preserving network settings and optimizing RF health. This is the recommended option.

      • Aggressive—Prioritize RF optimization by frequently adjusting radio channel and power settings, even if it overrides existing network settings.

      Note:

      The Wireless Coverage Tuning parameter is intended for advanced users only and should be used under the supervision of the Technical Support team.

  7. Click Update.

    The updated settings are applied to the RF optimization on APs.

Note:

The flexible dual radio band modes for specific APs are managed through the Dual / Flex Radio Configuration in HPE Aruba Networking Central. When set to Automatic, AirMatch dynamically selects the optimal band configuration. You can manually override these settings for the first and second radios if needed. In such cases, AirMatch retains the manually selected band for each radio. However, AirMatch continues to optimize channel and transmit power (EIRP) unless those settings are also explicitly set to Static in the RF profile. For more information, see RF Profile.
