Client Profiler
Client Insights includes a Client Profiler that uses artifacts to classify clients connected to a network device.

Client Classification
The Client Profiler uses an artifact to classify clients. An artifact is a rule that is used for classification. The Client Profiler feature in HPE Aruba Networking Central profiles clients and provides that collective information for enriching client records and other relevant metrics. It helps controlling and monitoring client information by classifying them. It consumes telemetry data from devices like access points, switches, gateways, etc. Users can create rules and tags in the UI to manage the classification.
Client Re-classification
When a new artifact is deployed, or if a change is made to the artifact (such as model, fingerprint, or MAC range), then the reclassification of all the clients in the cluster is triggered. In the event of even one artifact changing, all the clients are re-classified. First, the active clients are re-classified, followed by the inactive clients.
Client Details
You can view the details of the classified clients from multiple places.

To see the client details on the side panel of the Clients list, go to Site > Clients > Client name.

In the Classified By section, the attribute that is used to classify the client is displayed. Below you can see an example of a Client Classification card, where the client is classified using the MAC range.
If Client Insights cannot classify the new device using any attribute, then the device will be listed as Unclassified.
