Details of Classification Card in Site Context

You can expand the Classification card to view the details of the clients that are connected to your network. Client Insights primarily defines the clients as Classified and Unclassified. The Classified clients are further grouped into hierarchically-defined categories. You can switch between the tabs Summary and Explore to view details of the Classified clients. You can also use customized tags to group Classified clients.

The details for the Classification card can be viewed in the Summary view.

The details of Classification card in the Explore view allows users to filter categories and customize the results accordingly. Based on the filters, the Classification card provides relevant and specific information. After selecting the filters, you can redirect to the Clients page by clicking the Go to Clients List option at the bottom. The list view will display clients based on the filters applied in the Classification card.

The different parts of the Classification card are described below.

  • Donut chart—The donut chart shows the total number of clients that are connected to the network. The connected clients are divided into two categories: Classified and Unclassified.

  • The Classified clients are further defined by four different parameters. These parameters are system-defined and hierarchically arranged. Any classified client can potentially be listed under all four parameters. These parameters are as follows:

    • Category—Under this parameter, clients can be classified as Computers & Servers, Mobiles & Gadgets, Audio & Video, Collaboration & Communication, Network & Switching, Point of Sale Devices, Medical Devices, IOT devices, Facilities & Building Automation, and Printers.

    • Function—Under this parameter, clients can be classified as Computers, Servers, Audio/Video Devices, Video Conferencing, Access Points, and others.

    • Vendor—Under this parameter, clients are classified according to their manufacturers, such as Windows, Apple, Linux, Aruba, and others.

    • Network—Under this parameter, clients are classified according to the networks they are connected to.

    • VLAN —Under this parameter, clients are classified according to the VLAN IDs they are connected to.

    • Roles—Under this parameter, clients are classified according to their roles.

    • Model/OS—Clients can be classified by their models as operating systems. Under this parameter, clients are classified as CentOS, Fedora, MacOS, Windows 8/10, Aruba AP, and others.

    • Internal Data Download—Under this parameter, clients are listed based on the total bytes downloaded from internal destinations for a selected period of time.

    • External Data Upload—Under this parameter, external destinations are listed based on the total bytes uploaded by the clients for a selected period of time.

  • Tagged Clients—Clients that you have defined using customized tags are listed on this page in the Tag column.
