Creating Classification Rules

You can create custom classification rules by using the global options available on the New Central home page. You can also create custom classification rules from the Clients table. For more information, see Creating Classification Rules.

To create custom classification rules, complete the following steps.

1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click the icon.

2. Click Manage on the Clients Classification card.

3. Click the Classification Rule tab.

4. Click Create Rule.

5. In the Create Classification Rule side panel, fill in the following details:

   • Name—The name of the rule.

   • Description—The description of the rule.

     In the Conditions sections, provide either of the following:

   • MAC Address—The MAC address of the client that you wish to associate with the rule.

   • Attributes—Click the Attributes drop down to select the attribute that you wish to include in the rule. Then key in the attribute in the box and click Add.

   • In the New Classification section, provide the following details:

     • Category—Click the drop-down to select the category. Once you select an option for the Category field, the Function, Vendor, and Model/OS fields are auto-adjusted based on the options available for that category.

     • Function—Click the drop-down to select the function. Once you select an option for the Function field, the Vendor and Model/OS fields are auto-adjusted based on the options available for that function.

     • Vendor—You can either key in the name of the vendor or select the desired vendor from the list.

     • Model/OS—You can either key in the name of the model or OS or select the desired vendor from the list. You can also either key in, or select the specific version of the operating system.

6. Click Create.
