Managing Tags Using Create Tag Button

To create tags using the Create Tag button, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click Clients.

    The Clients dashboard is displayed in the List view.

  3. Click Create Tag.

    The Create Client Tag accordion is displayed. The * next to the option indicate the mandatory categories.

  4. Enter a name and a description for the tag in the Name and Descriptions fields respectively.

  5. In the Conditions section, fill in the following details:

    • Category—Click the drop-down to select a category and click the Add icon . Once you select an option for the Category field, the Function, Vendor, and Model/OS fields are auto-adjusted based on the options available for that category.

    • Function—Click the drop-down to select a function and click the Add icon . Once you select an option for the Function field, the Vendor, and Model/OS fields are auto-adjusted based on the options available for that function.

    • Vendor—Select the name of the vendor from the drop-down. Optionally, click the Add icon to select more vendors.

    • Model/OS—Select the name of the model or OS from the drop-down. Optionally, click the Add icon to select more models or OS.

    • Attributes—Select the attribute from drop-down. Key in the attribute value or select the attribute value in the next field. Optionally, click the Add icon to select more attributes.

  6. In the Location section, fill in the following details:

    1. From the Site drop-down, select the site.

    2. From the Building drop-down, select the building.

    3. From the Floor drop-down, select the floor.

  7. Click Create.

Note:
  • The HPE Aruba Networking Central application supports wildcard (*) characters as values for Model/OS under Conditions and options Destination Hosts and Operating System Version under the Attributes drop down.

  • Wildcard (*) characters can be added as suffix for Model/OS and Operating System Version values and as suffix or prefix for Destination Hosts values.

  • Auto-complete assistance is provided for Model/OS under Conditions and options Role and Manufacturer under the Attributes drop down. You can select values for the model or the operating system, the role and name of the MAC vendor from the populated list instead of manually entering the value.
