Networking Copilot Licensing

Licensing plays a crucial role in determining access to Networking Copilot and its advanced features within HPE Aruba Networking Central. The Networking Copilot and Agentic-Mesh functionalities are determined by the type and percentage of licenses assigned to devices within a user account. This ensures that only customers with the appropriate subscription tier can benefit from the full suite of Networking Copilot capabilities, including autonomous insights, agentic actions, and advanced alerting mechanisms.

Additionally, user roles such as admin privileges can interact with Networking Copilot fully. Read-only users may see the Networking Copilot icon but will not be able to initiate queries or access detailed insights.

To support transparency and user awareness, banners and notifications are displayed within the UI to indicate whether Networking Copilot is available or restricted. For accounts that do not meet the licensing criteria, the Networking Copilot interface may appear disabled or grayed out, and users will be prompted to contact their account representative to enable trial access or upgrade their license. These licensing controls are essential not only for managing feature access but also for ensuring that customers receive value aligned with their subscription level.

90‑Day Networking Copilot Trial

Users now receive a 90‑day Copilot Trial, which introduces a new evaluation workflow granting temporary access to Networking Copilot for a limited 90‑day period. During this trial, a banner displays the remaining days, with the countdown decreasing daily. If the Advanced license is purchased during the evaluation window, the banner disappears immediately and Networking Copilot transitions to standard access. This workflow is designed to let Foundation‑tier and other non‑Advanced users experience Networking Copilot’s capabilities before committing to a license upgrade.

Dynamic Licensing and RBAC for Networking Copilot

Networking Copilot access is now determined using a dynamic back-end licensing evaluation rather than a static allow-list. The system calculates eligibility based on the ratio of Advanced licenses that are owned and assigned to devices within a customer account. If this calculated percentage exceeds a defined threshold, the customer is treated as Advanced and Networking Copilot is enabled. This approach ensures Networking Copilot availability more accurately reflects real license usage across devices, improves scalability, and reduces manual back-end management.

Networking Copilot access has been expanded through RBAC enhancements to support operational and troubleshooting workflows. In addition to Admins, users with Operator or Troubleshooter roles can now access Networking Copilot when those roles are enabled. This allows internal support teams to use it for diagnostics and issue resolution even when the customer does not meet Advanced licensing criteria. Access is still strictly role-based: users without Admin or Operator privileges will see an access restriction message and cannot use Networking Copilot. These controls apply consistently across both HPE and non-HPE domains, ensuring secure but flexible support access.
