Assigning a Device Function to a Device

Note: Assigning Device Function to third-party switches is currently not supported.
Note: When a device assignment is removed using HPE GreenLake Platform, the device is unprovisioned from its site and group in HPE Aruba Networking Central. As a result, the device no longer appears on the Devices and Sites page for the site context. In addition, the site association for the device is removed in Classic Central, and the device moves to an Unassigned state. To restore the device association in HPE Aruba Networking Central, assign the device to an existing or new site in Classic Central.

To assign a device function to a device, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click on the Device Inventory card.

    The Device Inventory page is displayed with a list of devices that are part of the inventory.

  2. Select one or more devices of the same type (Access Points, Gateways, Switches, and Bridges) and click Assign.

    The Device Assignment side panel is displayed.

  3. Select the device function for the selected devices.

    The selected device function is displayed under the Device Function column on the Device Inventory page.

  4. Click Assign.
