Viewing the Device Inventory Table

In the Device Inventory page, you can do the following:

  • View a list of all the Classic Central devices and third-party switches that are part of the inventory.

  • View the device name, device type, device function, device vendor, whether the device is onboarded, assigned and provisioned to a site.

  • Assign device function to the devices.

  • Click on the hyperlink of a device name or a site to view the device-specific or site-specific details.

  • Filter the devices using quick-filters based on the device type or the site assignment.

  • Sort and customize the columns.

To view the Device Inventory table, click the menu icon on the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page. Click Manage on the Device Inventory card.
Alternatively, on the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, click on the device count in the Inventory and Subscriptions card.

The Device Inventory page is displayed.

The following table describes the columns in the List view.

Column

Description

Name

Displays the device name and device status. To view the device-specific details, click on the hyperlink of an online device name. It navigates to the device-specific page. For more information about device-specific page, see Viewing Device-Specific Information in the List View.

Note: If there is no hyperlink for a device name, the device is offline or the device is in the inventory but not onboarded and assigned to any site yet.

Type

Displays the device icon, device type, and device topology.

MAC Address

Displays the MAC address of the device.

IP Address

Displays the IP address (IPv4 and IPv6, if available) of the device.

Note: The search function supports searches for IPv4 addresses but not IPv6 addresses.

Model

Displays the device model name.

Serial Number

Displays the device serial number.

Subscription

Displays the device subscriptions.

Site

Displays the site name the device is assigned to. To view the site-specific details, click on the hyperlink of a site name. It navigates to the site-specific page. For more information about site-specific page, see Navigating to the Site Dashboard.

Note:
  • If the device is not assigned to a site, the site name is displayed as Unassigned.
  • If there is no hyperlink for a site name, it means that the device is not assigned to any site yet.

Provisioning State

Displays Yes only if a site, license, and persona are assigned to the device.

Device Function

Displays the persona assigned to the device in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

Device Vendor Displays the name of the device vendor.
Note:

  • When AOS-S switches are archived on the HPE GreenLake Inventory page, the devices are deleted from the Device Inventory page.

    If a device appears as Unassigned under the Sites column on the Device Inventory page, the device was either newly added to a site or re-provisioned without being unassigned from a site in HPE GreenLake. To fix this, you must navigate to Classic Central and manually unassign or reassign the device to the appropriate site. Once reassigned, the site name appears under the Sites column on the Device Inventory page, and the device is listed again on the Devices page in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

    For more information, see the following documents:

  • Deleting a device from the Sites > Network > Devices (or Unified Device List) page does not fully remove it from the Device Inventory page. The Site column continues to display the associated site, and site navigation remains active, even though the device is no longer listed under the site’s Devices page, resulting in inconsistent inventory data.

    To completely remove the device and its associated site information from the Device Inventory page, delete the device from the platform.

Important Points about Device Inventory

  • All device types, except for bridges, can be assigned, unassigned, or moved between sites only from Classic Central.

  • For bridge device types, devices can be assigned or moved between sites.

  • In HPE Aruba Networking Central, you can assign site and device function to a device from the Device Inventory page.

  • Device groups can be created, updated, or deleted only from Classic Central. In HPE Aruba Networking Central, you can only view a device group and its device associations.

  • All devices can be assigned or moved between sites from Device Inventory table in multi-level hierarchy.

  • Devices can be moved between site from Devices table in multi-level hierarchy.

  • Device groups can be created, updated, deleted, or read from the Device Group table in multi-level hierarchy.

  • Devices can be assigned, removed, or moved between device groups under Devices table in multi-level hierarchy.
