What are Extensions?

HPE Aruba Networking Central supports integration with third-party vendors across various domains, offering specialized tools that enhance the management, monitoring, security, and operation of services in a more cohesive and streamlined manner. Examples include PSM, Microsoft Defender, and Splunk. For more details, refer to the article: Extensions .

Are Extensions generally available and where can I find them?

Some extensions are available on a selective basis. For more information and to view the list of extensions, see Extensions.

Alternatively, from your HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, navigate to Global Menu > Extensions > Manage, and view the list of available and installed extensions.

How do I reach the Extensions management area in HPE Aruba Networking Central?

Click the menu icon, select the Extensions card, and click Manage. This opens the Extensions page where you can install, update, or uninstall extensions.

After installation, how can I verify an extension is working?

From the menu > Extensions > Manage, check Installed Extensions. Each extension card displays its current Status (Active or Inactive). Clicking a card opens a side panel that shows configuration details and any error messages if the status is Inactive.

How do I remove an extension?

Select the extension’s card in Installed Extensions, click the options icon in its side panel, choose Uninstall Extension, and confirm. All related data and configuration are deleted.

What does the Workspace ONE extension provide?

It integrates HPE Aruba Networking Central with VMWare Workspace ONE (AirWatch) UEM to import device attributes and support credential-based or OAuth-based connections.

For the Workspace ONE extension, can I update connection details later?

Yes. Under Installed Extensions > Workspace ONE card, change URL, credentials, or OAuth parameters, and click Update.

What is the purpose of the Jamf extension?

It forwards HPE Aruba Networking Central Client Insights data to Jamf Pro or Jamf School for richer Apple-device management and analytics.

Can I change the Name or Type of an existing Jamf extension during an update?

No. During an update, the Name and Type fields are read-only. You can modify other parameters such as URL, credentials, or OAuth details.

What does Microsoft Defender for Endpoint extension do?

It enriches client classification in HPE Aruba Networking Central with Microsoft Defender posture/risk data and supports bidirectional attribute exchange.

What data can HPE Aruba Networking Central send to Microsoft Sentinel?

It sends Client Insights endpoint data, including metrics, alerts, and events for real-time security analytics and correlation.

How do I map HPE Aruba Networking Central data to Microsoft Sentinel tables?

In the installation side panel, add a Table Mapping entry: pick Clients as Data Source and specify a table name. For more information, refer to: Installing the Microsoft Sentinel Extension.

What benefits does the CrowdStrike Falcon extension provide?

It imports endpoint status, provisioning, and security-policy data from CrowdStrike Falcon, enabling dynamic tagging and policy enforcement in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

What kind of tags can be created with the CrowdStrike Falcon extension?

Auto Tags, such as CrowdStrike status, provisioning state, and Manual Tags that administrators can define.

What benefits does the Ivanti Neurons extension provide?

It augments client/device classification in HPE Aruba Networking Central using automation, security, and operational insights from the Ivanti Neurons UEM platform.

What does the Splunk extension enable?

It forwards HPE Aruba Networking Central monitoring data to Splunk via HTTP Event Collector (HEC) for search, dashboards, and correlation.

How many indexes can I map per data source in the Splunk extension?

Only one index can be mapped to each data source.

What is provided by the Microsoft Intune extension?

Integration with Microsoft Intune UEM to import device attributes and enhance security/compliance controls in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

What does the Policy and Services Manager (PSM) extension do?

Allows HPE Aruba Networking Central to manage on-premises Pensando Policy and Services Manager, enabling distributed firewall and network policy orchestration for AMD Pensando switches (DSCs).

How do I view operational statistics after deployment in the PSM extension?

Open Installed Extensions > PSM card, and select the Statistics tab to see counts of Admitted, Pending, Decommissioned, Rejected, and Unknown switches, plus overall configuration status (Operational / Not Operational).

What does the vSphere extension offer?

It connects to and monitors your vCenter Server, allowing visibility into ESXi hosts from within HPE Aruba Networking Central.
