Creating a Group for Switches

To manage device configuration using configuration containers in Classic Central, you can create a group and assign devices.

Creating a Group

To create a new group, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Classic Central app, filter to Global.

  2. Under Maintain, click Organization.

  3. Click the Groups card.

    The Groups page is displayed.

  4. In the Groups table, click + (Add Group).

    The Add Group page is displayed.

  5. Enter a name for the group in the Name field.

  6. Use the Use preferred group settings toggle to apply preferred or custom group settings:

    • To create a group with preferred group settings, complete the following steps:

      1. Enable the Use preferred group settings toggle. The preferred group setting includes:

        • AOS-CX and AOS-S switches

        • New Central Group

      2. Click Add.

    • To create a group with custom group settings, complete the following steps:

      1. Disable the Use preferred group settings toggle.

      2. Enable the Allow New Central to overwrite all configurations for this group toggle.

        Note:

        The Allow New Central to overwrite all configurations for this group toggle is available only when the Use preferred group settings toggle is disabled. When the Allow New Central to overwrite all configurations for this group toggle is enabled, only APs are allowed in the group.

  7. Under Group will contain, select the Switches check boxes.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Select the type of switches used in this group:

    • AOS-CX only

    • AOS-S only

    • Both AOS-CX and AOS-S

  10. Select the check box for Make these the preferred group settings optionally to save the settings of the current group for subsequent group creations.

Once the group is created, you can assign a device function in HPE Aruba Networking Central.

Editing a Group

To edit a group, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Classic Central app, filter to Global.

  2. Under Maintain, click Organization.

  3. Click the Groups tile.

  4. Hover over the group in the groups table and click the Edit Group icon.

  5. Click Save.
