Planning Manual Access Point Deployment
Manual placement of APs on the floorplan is done by dragging and dropping the suggested APs on the selected floorplan.
To start planning manual AP deployment, complete the following steps:
-
From the Action drop-down list, select Plan Access Point Deployment.
The Plan Access Point Deployment page is displayed.
-
Select Manual from Placement Method options. The suggested APs are listed under Models.
By default, Automatic Optimization is selected.
When you select Manual or vice versa, a pop up is displayed to confirm the change in current settings. -
Select and drag the AP that you want to place on the floor. You can drag and place multiple devices to the floor.
By default, the prefix of the AP is the floor number. Optionally, if you want to label the APs with some other name you can update the Access Point Name Prefix field with the new name. Each AP that is dragged on the floor is prefixed by the name that is mentioned in the Access Point Name Prefix field followed by the AP model number, and the AP sequence.
You can also delete an AP, if you do not want the AP to be a part of the floor.
Whenever an AP is placed on the floor the heatmap is generated dynamically. This enables you to estimate the coverage area and if required, you can change the AP positions accordingly.
If the selected floorplan already has deployed APs, or has walls or zones, it is displayed by default. You can zoom in and zoom out the heatmap to view the additional heatmap padding outside the floorplan. You can filter the heatmap through the Layers panel. Click the stack
icon to display the Layers panel. Based on the radio band selected, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz the heatmap is displayed. For more information on Layers panel filtering, see Layers Panel. In case you want to see the signal strength and the coverage area in lesser intensity, you can select the Monochromatic check-box.
