Location Services

Location services help enterprises in delivering real-time locations for all mobile devices, enterprise assets, IoT devices, and visitors in the venue. Enterprises can leverage location services to provide better customer experience by driving visitor satisfaction with turn-by-turn navigation, boost user engagement with proximity-based advertising and promotions, and track valuable assets to reduce loss.

Location services leverage Floorplan Manager which helps network administrators to create and manage sites, buildings, and floor plans in their venue. Self-locating APs is the first application delivered on this new Floorplan Manager that lays the foundation for the scalable delivery of highly accurate indoor location services. Self-locating wireless infrastructure together with the Open Locate initiative brings the ease and accuracy of AP placements. To overcome the limitations of today’s manual approaches in placing APs on the map, Aruba APs use fine time measurements, and intelligent software to establish their locations accurately and automatically in the universal reference framework of latitude and longitude.

With self-locating APs, enterprises, and service providers Aruba is able to deliver location-aware applications more quickly, accurately, and at scale across the entire wireless LAN footprint, eliminating the need for costly and error-prone manual surveys.

Open Locate

The Aruba Location initiative introduced new technologies in Aruba APs with the goal of producing highly accurate indoor Location Coordination Information (LCI) and making it readily accessible to all network tools and applications throughout the ecosystem over standardized interfaces.

Floorplan Manager

The Floorplan Manger serves as the foundation for indoor positioning and navigation. It provides a detailed and accurate representation of the indoor environment. It allows you to plan sites, create and manage floorplans, and provision access points. You can use Floorplan Manager to auto-locate APs.

Auto Locate

The auto-locate feature is used to automate the placement of APs using the Fine Time Measurement (FTM) protocol. The orchestration of FTM protocol in 500 Series access points and 600 Series access points along with the features of the Floorplan Manager enables an unprecedented capability to automatically place APs on the floorplan with minimal interaction from the user.
