Graphical Representation of the Location Analytics Data

    Visitors

Based on the engagement pattern and the time spent by the connected and non-connected clients at the site, HPE Aruba Networking Central classifies clients as visitors. The client must cross threshold of signal strength to -65dBM and dwell time of 5 minutes in the network. It also maintains a record of the number of repeat visits made by these clients over a specific duration. Based on these records, it plots the frequency at which the visitors' return to the sites, and classifies these repeat visitors as recurring visitors.

The Visitors graph provides a statistical analysis of the clients classified as recurring visitors for a given time range. The graph also displays the total count of visitors versus the recurring visitors for the selected time range.

    Visit Duration

The visit duration is the average amount of time spent by all the visitors in a specific site in a day, week, or month based upon the selection. The graph includes the frequency distribution of visits made by all visitors to the site. The graph also displays the number of recurring visitors versus their total visits based on the selected time range.

    Passersby

A passerby is an associated or unassociated client who is in the vicinity of a specific site and has an RSSI value greater than -90 dBm. The Passerby graph displays the aggregate count of all passerby clients for the selected time range. The graph also displays the total count of visits versus the passerby details for the selected time range.

    Sites Card

The Sites card displays the sites present in the selected user account at global level along with the total count of unique visitors in each site. For example, at a given period of time, if User A visits a site multiple times in a day then, the count for User A will be considered as 1 in the site icon and the Sites card.

    Note:

If a site does not have any visitors, that specific site is not visible in the Sites card.

Click on a Site name to navigate to the specific site context. The Visitors, Visit Duration, and the Passerby graphs display data based on the selected site on the left pane. This page also displays the information regarding the building and the floor where the specific site is available. You can hover over the building image to view the building name and the number of floors available on that building. Hover over the building name to view the following details:

    • Name of the building

    • Number of Floors

    • Passerby

    • Recurring Visitors

    • Total Visitors

    • New Visitors

This view is dynamic, and the details are generated using data from the floorplan manager. To access building details, you must first assign the AP to a floor, and then place it on the floorplan. For more information on assigning devices and placing devices on the floor, see Assigning Devices to Floorplans in Floorplan Manager and Planning Access Point Deployment.

    Note:

Building information will not be displayed if the floorplan management feature is not enabled. To access building details, you must first assign the AP to a floor, and then place it on the floorplan.

The number of building displays varies based on the site that you have selected. For example, If the selected site is associated with two buildings then, two buildings are displayed under Buildings.

You can select the time range from time filter drop-down list to display the site-specific data. For more information, see Time Filter.

Alternatively, you can also click on the site location icon on the map view to navigate to the specific site context.

For example, using a 1-week date range, the following classification is made:

    • New Visitors—A client detected for the first time during the 1-week period. This implies there is no prior detection in the system before the start of the week, and the client's first appearance is within the current 1-week window.

    • Recurring Visitors—A client that has been detected before the 1-week period and is seen again during the current week. This client appears in historical data and has returned in the current 1-week window.

    • Passerby—A client that has been detected in the vicinity of the site with an RSSI of at least - 90 dBm.

    • Total Visitors—This implies the total number of clients including the new clients and recurring clients.

    Note:

If you move a site from one location to another, the site icon on the map view takes approximately 6 hours to reflect the updated location.

You can use the Search bar in the Map View to locate a specific site. This dynamic search and highlights the specific site that corresponds to the entered name.
