Zones
Zones are created to build sub-spaces in a large area of the floorplan to group items according to the usage and accessibility.
Click the Zones tile to create zones on the floorplan. The Zones page displays the basic information regarding creating a zone, editing and deleting a zone, or finish creating a zone.
A zone should be a minimum of three points.
To create a zone, place your mouse on the floorplan and when you see the plus (+) icon, you can start dragging the line to create the zone. When you start drawing the zone an orange-dotted line displays the zone. When you see the green plus icon it indicates the end of the zone. While creating a zone, if you press the Escape key at the third point, the zone will end there and a three-point zone is created. You can end a zone creation by pressing the Escape key or clicking on the starting point of the zone. By default, the zone name is displayed as Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3, and so on. You can rename the zone in the Zone Name field. There are two types of zone:
-
Inclusion
-
Exclusion
HPE Aruba Networking Central now displays the name of the zone above the heatmap for enhanced visibility.
Within a floorplan, the name of a zone should be unique. If the zone name already exists, the error message below the Zone Name text box transitions from a character to information about a duplicate zone name.
The maximum length of a zone name is 32 characters. If the length of a zone name exceeds 32 characters, an error message appears as soon as you type an extra character.
By default, the zone type will be selected as Inclusion.
After creating a zone, if you want to extend the zone area, you can select a point and then drag the point till the required area on the floorplan. You can change the zone view by dragging the anchor points on the floorplan. You can select a single zone or multiple zones at a time and edit the zone type or delete the zone. To delete a point in the zone, you can select the anchor point and select Delete. To rename a zone, you must select one zone at a time.
The Delete button is only visible when a zone is selected.
Click the stack
icon to display the Layers panel. Based on the radio band selected, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz the heatmap is displayed. Additionally, you can also filter the floorplan heatmap based on the list of Overlay Objects available. Here you can deselect the attribute which you do not want to display on the floorplan. By default, all the attributes are selected.
To save all the operations that you perform on the Zones page, you must click Finish.
Click the Cancel option at the top-right corner of the screen to go back to the edit floorplan page. Here you can see all the newly created zones.
Walls and Zones can only be created within the floorplan.
