DHCP Pools

DHCP pools define a range of IP addresses that can be automatically assigned (or leased) to clients. Aruba gateways support multiple DHCP pools, allowing administrators to configure separate pools for different VLANs or network segments.

The Gateway DHCP Pools Summary card shows the five most utilized DHCP pools along with its utilization percentage for the selected time interval. You can hover over on each DHCP pool bar chart to see how many IP addresses are leased out of the pool. You can click on any DHCP subnet mask to navigate to the DHCP Leases page.

To view additional information about all the DHCP pools, click the expand icon.

On the expanded DHCP pools page, you can do a quick search using the DHCP pool name. You can also customize, re-order or reset columns in the table using the Actions drop-down on the right.

The below table explains the parameters displayed in the expanded DHCP pools page.

Parameter	Description
Name	Name of the DHCP Pool. You can click on the pool name to navigate to the DHCP Leases page.
VLAN	VLAN ID.
Subnet	Subnet mask of the DHCP pool.
Lease Duration	Duration (in hours) of how long the IP addresses can be used before requesting for a new IP address.
Available Addresses	Number of IP addresses available in the DHCP pool after leasing.
Pool Size	Total number of IP addresses in the DHCP pool.
Utilization	Percentage of the number of IP addresses leased relative to the pool size.

DHCP Leases

DHCP leases page displays all the DHCP leases of the selected DHCP pool. On this page, you can filter leases based on Reservation criteria. You can also customize, re-order, or reset columns in the table using the Actions drop-down on the right.

Parameter	Description
IP Address	Leased DHCP IP address.
MAC address	MAC address of the DHCP client. You can click on the MAC address to view the device dashboard.
Hostname	Hostname of the DHCP client.
Type	Switch name or AP name.
Start Time	Start time of the DHCP lease.
Expiration Time	End time of the DHCP lease. This is updated every five minutes.
Remaining Time	Time remaining in the DHCP lease. This is updated every five minutes.
Reservation	Yes or no; indicates if the IP address is reserved for the device. DHCP pool reservation is the process of assigning a specific IP address to a device based on its MAC address within the DHCP server configuration. This ensures that the device always receives the same IP address whenever it connects to the network, while other devices still use dynamic IP allocation.
