WAN Interfaces

The WAN Interfaces card provides a summary of the health, availability, usage, and compression details of the gateway's WAN interfaces. There are two primary types of WAN interfaces, LTE and wired uplinks. Both LTE and wired uplinks serve essential roles in WAN connectivity, with LTE offering mobility and rapid deployment, while wired connections provide stability, higher speeds, and enhanced security. By default, it displays WAN interfaces detail for the last three hours.

The WAN Interfaces card provides the following details:

Parameter

Description

Status

Displays the health status and usage of the WAN interface.

Availability

Indicates the WAN and VPN availability for the last three hours of the time period selected. The WAN bar chart represents an aggregated view of WAN interfaces availability. The VPN bar chart represents an aggregated view of VPN availability. For example, if the external network is reachable by the WAN or VPN, the respective bar is shown as green.

The color of the bars represent the link health as follows:

  • Poor—Indicated in red color when all the configured uplinks in the gateway are down.
  • Fair—Indicated in amber color when one of the configured uplinks in the gateway is down.
  • Unknown—Indicated in gray color when uplinks are not configured in the gateway.
  • Good—Indicated in green color when all the configured uplinks in the gateway are up.

Usage

Displays the number of bytes transmitted and received by the WAN interfaces for the last three hours of the selected time period.

Compression

Displays the percentage of bandwidth saved over the selected time period.

Click the expand icon to view additional information of the gateway WAN interfaces. The expanded view of the WAN Interfaces card displays the following details:

Parameter

Description

Name

Indicates the name and health status of the gateway WAN interface. It also indicates the operating status of the WAN interface as follows:

  • Online—Indicates that the gateway WAN interface is up.
  • Offline—Indicates that the gateway WAN interface is down.

Transport

Indicates the gateway WAN interface transport type.

Type

Indicates the gateway WAN interface type:

  • Active—Indicates that the gateway WAN interface is of type active.
  • Backup—Indicates that the gateway WAN interface is of type backup.

Public IP Address

Indicates the public IP address of the gateway WAN interface.

Private IP Address

Indicates the private IP address of the gateway WAN interface.

The uplink and health status of the gateway ports is updated in the WAN Interfaces card when the following alert is generated:

  • Gateway Uplink Flap Detected

Click the customize columns icon to adjust the visibility and position of columns in the WAN Interfaces table. Select Customize Columns to select or reorder the columns and select Reset Column Sizes to reset the columns to default view.

In the expanded WAN Interfaces card, click on a WAN interface name to view the properties of the WAN interface.

The following table provides WAN interface properties information for a wired uplink.

Parameter

Description

Port

Indicates the port name of the WAN interface.

Speed/Duplex

Indicates the effective port speed and communication direction over the network link or port. If a port is configured for auto-negotiation, this value is effective speed and duplex mode. The link speed is in bps.

The duplex mode can be one of the following:

  • Full
  • Half

Native VLAN

Indicates the native VLAN that is mapped to the gateway WAN interface.

Public IP Address

Indicates the public IP address of the gateway WAN interface.

Private IP Address

Indicates the private IP address of the gateway WAN interface.

WAN Backup

Indicates the WAN backup status:

  • Enabled—Indicates that WAN backup is enabled for the gateway WAN interface. If the gateway WAN interface type is active, the WAN backup status is disabled.
  • Disabled—Indicates that WAN backup is disabled for the gateway WAN interface. If the gateway WAN interface type is backup, the WAN backup status is enabled.

WAN

Displays a bar graph that indicates the status of WAN for default gateway and health check IP over time. By hovering over the chart, you can view the status of WAN for that specific time. The operational states of the WAN interfaces are indicated in a color-coded format, showing as Up, Partial, Down, and Unknown.

VPN

Displays a bar graph that indicates the status of VPN for VPN hubs over time. By hovering over the chart, you can view the status of VPN for that specific time. The operational states of the VPN are indicated in a color-coded format, showing as Up, Partial, Down, and Unknown.

Compression

Displays a graph of aggregate uplink bandwidth saved through data compression by this uplink over time. By hovering over the graph, you can view the bandwidth saved and used for that specific time.

Usage

Displays the number of bytes transmitted and received the WAN interface during the last three hours. To view the charts by specific usage, select one of the following from the drop-down list:

  • All
  • Internet
  • VPN

Throughput

Displays a graph of the transmitted and received throughput data over the WAN interface over time. By hovering over the graph, you can view the transmitted and received throughput data for that specific time.

When you click Show Usage Details, the Top Clients, Top Applications, and Top Destinations graphs are displayed. These graphs display the transmitted and received throughput data for clients, applications, and destinations with most usage during the selected period of time.

Probe

Displays a graph of packet loss for a probe over time. To view the packet loss for a specific probe, select the probe from the drop-down list. By hovering over the graph, you can view the packet loss for the probe for that specific time.

When you click Show SLA Compliance, the Latency, Jitter, and MOS Score graphs are displayed.

The following table provides WAN interface properties information for a LTE interface.

Indicates the native VLAN that is mapped to the gateway WAN interface.

Public IP Address

Indicates the public IP address of the gateway WAN interface.

Private IP Address

Indicates the private IP address of the gateway WAN interface.

Uptime

Displays the total time duration that the uplink has been operational.

WAN Backup

Indicates the WAN backup status:

  • Enabled—Indicates that WAN backup is enabled for the gateway WAN interface. If the gateway WAN interface type is active, the WAN backup status is disabled.
  • Disabled—Indicates that WAN backup is disabled for the gateway WAN interface. If the gateway WAN interface type is backup, the WAN backup status is enabled.

Cellular Interface

Model

Displays the model's name of the cellular interface.

Manufacturer

Displays the manufacture's name of the cellular interface.

Serial Number

Displays the serial number of the cellular interface.

Software Version

Displays the software version of the cellular interface.

SIM State

Displays the status of the SIM.

Active SIM Detected

Displays the name of the active SIM.

Active SIM Phone No.

Displays the phone number of the active SIM.

Standby SIM

Displays the status of the standby SIM.

Cell ID

Displays the cell ID of the SIM.

Physical Cell ID

Displays the physical cell ID of the SIM.

APN

Displays the Access Point Name (APN) details of the SIM.

PLMN

Displays the Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) details of the SIM.

Access Technology

Displays the access technology type of the SIM.

Frequency Band

Displays the frequency band of the SIM.

IMEI

Displays the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) details of the SIM.

IMSI

Displays the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) details of the SIM.

Roaming Service

Indicates whether roaming service is enabled or disabled on the SIM.

GPS Status

Indicates the status of GPS on the SIM.

GPS Coordinates

Displays the GPS coordinates of the SIM.

ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card Identifier)

Displays a globally unique serial number for a SIM card that identifies it to a mobile network. This 18–22 digit number is printed on the physical SIM card and can also be found in a device's settings for both physical SIMs and eSIMs. The ICCID is used to register and authenticate the SIM on the network and link it to a subscriber's account.

Cellular Connection

Connection Status

Displays the connection status of the SIM.

Signal Strength

Displays the signal strength of the SIM connection, in dBm.

ARFCN (3G)

Displays the Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number (ARFCN) of the 3G connection.

ARFCN (LTE)

Displays the Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number (ARFCN) of the LTE connection.

RSCP (3G)

Displays the Received Signal Code Power (RSCP) strength of the 3G connection, in dBm.

RSRP (LTE)

Displays the Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) strength of the LTE connection, in dBm.

RSRQ

Displays the Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ) strength of the LTE connection, in dBm.

CQI

Displays the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) value of the SIM connection.

SINR

Displays the Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) value of the SIM connection.

Data Usage

Displays the data usage of the SIM connection.

Data Usage Alert Limit

Displays the alert limit of data usage of the SIM connection.

Monthly Billing Start Date

Displays the start date of the monthly billing of the SIM connection.

WAN
