Connectivity Performance

The Connectivity Performance card provides a quick summary of the overall performance of the selected switch. It displays details such as status, Uplink Utilization, Usage, and Connected Clients. For a switch stack, the Connectivity Performance card provides the summary of the overall performance of a stack. In case of multiple statuses, a Show all hyperlink is displayed. Clicking the hyperlink displays the Alerts page.

Note:

The details of the Connectivity Performance card are displayed only when the device is online.

The following table provides details about the Connectivity Performance card.

Parameter

Description

Indicates that the switch performance is good.

Indicates that the switch performance is fair. The reason for fair performance is displayed next to this icon.

Indicates that the switch performance is poor. The reason for poor performance is displayed next to this icon.

Indicates that the switch is offline or in a pre-provisioned state.

Uplink Utilization

Displays the percentage uplink port utilization. The card displays the upload and download statistics of port utilization.

If there are no uplinks connected to the switch, then No uplink detected will be displayed.

Usage

Cumulative data bytes transferred and received from all the ports by the device.

Connected Clients

Number of clients currently connected to the switch.

To view the connectivity performance graphs of the switch, click the expand icon.

The card displays information about all the switch interfaces. To view information about a particular interface or LAG, select the interface from the Interface drop-down list. For example, select 1/3/4 to view information about that interface. You can also search for an interface using the search bar.

Note:

For a LAG interface, only the Throughput details are displayed. The throughput data of the all the LAG members and the overall cumulative packet count from LAG members across all member cards are displayed in separate charts.

For multi-chassis LAGs that are part of a VSX, the card displays only the details of local switch ports. The details of peer switch ports that are part of the same LAG are not displayed.

In case of a stack, select a stack member from the Stack Member drop-down list to view information about a particular device. The LAG details will be displayed in the Interface drop-down only when All is selected in the Stack Member drop-down list.

The samples are collected for every 5 minutes and the difference in the packet count is plotted as a graph. The expanded Connectivity Performance card displays the following graphs:

  • Uplink Throughput—Displays the uplink data rate for the switch. You can hover over the graph to view the data rate at a specific point in time. The uplink port is identified automatically based on the topology only in the Aruba end-to-end infrastructure.

  • Throughput—Displays the upstream and downstream data throughput for the selected interface on the switch.

  • Connected Clients—Displays the number of clients connected to the selected interface of the switch. You can hover over the graph to view the number of clients connected to the switch at a specific point in time.

  • Frames—Displays the trend in the number of frames (displayed as a percent of the total number of frames) transmitted through the network. The graph displays the trend in data frames categorized as Errors and Drops.

You can click on the Show Details to view the breakdown of frame errors by error type such as CRS/FCS, Collisions, Runts, and Giants. Also, separate graphs are available for Multicast, Broadcast, and Unicast transmitted and received packets.
