Viewing Clients in Summary View

The Summary view provides a graphical representation of relevant information related to all the clients present in the site.

To navigate to the Summary view, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click Network.

    The Unified Device List (UDL) view is displayed for the site.

  3. Select a switch from the Any or the Switches tab.

    The switch dashboard is displayed.

  4. Click Clients.

    The List view of clients associated with the switch is displayed.

  5. Click the Summary icon .

    The Summary view is displayed. The Summary view displays the following client information:

The Summary panel covers the following section cards:

  • Clients—Displays a donut chart, a line chart, and the legends of clients existing in the site along with the following category filters: All, By VLAN, By WLAN, and By Radio Band.

    • Donut Chart—Displays the current client count per category for the top 5 categories within the selected timelines. If there are more than 5 categories, the chart displays the top 4 categories (by decreasing client count) and folds all the remaining clients under a generic category named as Others. Hover over the chart to display client count details.

    • Line Chart—Displays the number of connected clients over the selected period and grouping, one curve per category. It uses the same categories as the donut chart. Hover over the chart to display client details.

    • Legends—Displays the category details for the charts.

    Click the option to view charts and legends of the following criterion:

    • All—Displays the count of wired & wireless clients over time.

    • By VLAN—Displays the count of VLANs used by clients over time.

    • By Role—Displays the roles connected currently to the client.

  • Top Clients—Displays the top 5 clients with the most usage (transmitted + received bytes) during the period selected in the timeline. Clicking on a client name redirects the user to the client dashboard. Clicking on the circular orange icon will display the Clients with the most active alerts section.

  • Connections—Displays all the connection attempts made by the client in the site.

    • Attempts—Displays the total number of client connection attempts within the site.

    • Succeed—Displays the number of successful connection attempts within the site.

    • Fails—Displays the number of failed connection attempts within the site.

    • Top Failure Reasons—Displays the top 3 connection failure reasons within the site.

  • Classification—Displays all the client data connected to the site. Click the expand icon to view further details.

    • Tag—Displays how the various classified and non-classified clients are defined in the site. For example, a client can be tagged as corporate assets, gizmo, IoT, and so on.

    • Category—Displays the category of both classified and non-classified clients running on the site. For example, a client can be categorized as servers, switching modules, gadgets, communication devices, and so on.

    • Function—Displays the list of functions running in various platforms for both classified and non-classified clients. For example, a client functions can be categorized as work on computers, video conferencing, checking access points, and so on.

    • Vendor—Displays the list of vendor of both classified and non-classified clients. For example, vendor can be Aruba.

    • Model/OS—Displays the list of models or OS of both classified and non-classified clients running at the site. For example, the model or OS can be Aruba AP, MacOS, Windows, and so on.
