Behavior on Windows Devices

This topic describes the following behaviors of the HPE Aruba Networking Onboard App on Windows devices.

Windows Connectivity

After provisioning the onboard App, the client device connects to the network automatically. This connection occurs without prompting for a username or password.

If the user selects "Forget Network" and tries to reconnect, the automatic connection will fail, and the system will prompt for a username and password as expected.

To enable automatic connection again, the user must refresh the network profile or reinstall the onboarding app.

Send Logs

Due to changes in newer Windows mail applications, the traditional mail integration method (MAPI) is no longer supported. As a result, the default mail program may not always open automatically to send logs. The Send Logs feature has been updated to ensure that logs can always be sent, employing alternative fallback methods when necessary.

The following behaviors are observed on clicking send logs and applies only on the Windows platform:

  • The existing email behavior is retained, and the email compose window opens as before when supported.

  • If the email application cannot accept the logs, the application automatically falls back to the Windows share panel.

  • If neither the email application nor the Windows share panel is available, the application prompts the user to save the logs as a ZIP file.

The following alerts appear when the user attempts to send logs:

Alert

When alert occurs

Error occurred in an attempt to send. Do you want to save logs as zip to send later?

If the mail window is closed without sending, or if neither mail nor the windows share panel is available.

Unable to detect whether the mail was sent. Do you want to save logs as zip to send later?

After the windows share panel is used, since the app cannot confirm whether the mail was sent.
