Third-Party Switches
HPE Aruba Networking Central supports monitoring and management of third-party switches, bringing seamless observability for the switches. This capability allows you to view telemetry data such as device states, statistics, and events directly within HPE Aruba Networking Central, offering a unified and simplified experience for managing your network infrastructure.
This feature is designed for users to migrate from Airwave to HPE Aruba Networking Central for managing non-Aruba devices. The feature also supports users operating in new deployments with multi-vendor environments, ensuring clear visibility and management of their network infrastructure.
HPE Aruba Networking Central leverages OpsRamp as an advanced backend technology to collect telemetry data from third-party switches. OpsRamp is used during initial provisioning and operates in the background to enable HPE Aruba Networking Central’s functionality, ensuring that you have all the necessary tools for effective third-party switch monitoring and management.
This feature follows a uniform licensing structure for all third-party switches. Each switch requires a single license, and the licenses are not tied to specific switches, offering flexibility in their allocation. The licensing model is consistent across both Classic Central and HPE Aruba Networking Central, offering flexibility with 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year options to meet different customer needs.

The third-party switches are supported only on HPE Aruba Networking Central. You can view and monitor them exclusively through the HPE Aruba Networking Central interface.

Do not remove a site from Classic Central, if the site is primarily used for third-party switches only.

HPE Aruba Networking Central currently supports only third-party switches. Future updates will add support for other device types.

The workflow involves the following steps:

Provisioning OpsRamp: Perform a one-time deployment and configuration in OpsRamp to enable telemetry collection from third-party switches. This process includes setting up on-premise OpsRamp gateways and configuring SNMP profiles on the switches. The gateway uses these SNMP profiles to collect telemetry data from the third-party switches.

Telemetry Collection: HPE Aruba Networking Central automatically retrieves telemetry data, such as device states and performance metrics, through the underlying OpsRamp infrastructure.

Monitoring in HPE Aruba Networking Central: All third-party switch data is seamlessly integrated into HPE Aruba Networking Central, where you can monitor and analyze the switches alongside native HPE Aruba Networking Central switches.
