Topology

HPE Aruba Networking Central provides a detailed topology of the network and is available at the site and device contexts. It provides a visual representation of the physical and logical network connectivity for intuitive network monitoring, troubleshooting, and provisioning. It provides a unified view of all the supported device types, device health, device status, and the site's overall health status.

Before you Begin

The following types of devices are displayed as part of the topology:

  • Access Points

  • AOS-S and AOS-CX switches

  • AOS-S and AOS-CX switch stacks

  • Gateways

Prerequisites

The following are the prerequisites associated with the devices so that they are displayed correctly in the topology:

  • The topology map filters devices based on sites. To view the topology map, ensure that you have assigned the devices to sites.

  • The minimum required ArubaOS version for APs and gateways in the topology map is ArubaOS 8.1.0.0-1.0.1.1.

  • To view the topology map, ensure that the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) is enabled. By default, LLDP is enabled on switches.

Note:

There must be a one-to-one mapping between a site and a device. Topology does not currently support unmanaged devices belonging to multiple sites. All HPE Aruba Networking Central managed devices that are connected to a common unmanaged device must terminate on the same site.
