Traceroute Test for APs

To perform traceroute test on an AP, complete the following steps:

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site from the Sites menu.

    Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

    The site dashboard is displayed along with site health, device, and client information.

  2. Click Network.

    The Unified Device List (UDL) view is displayed for the site.

  3. To access the troubleshooting page for an AP, complete one of the following steps:

    • From the Devices table in list view, click anywhere on the particular device row under the Access Points tab.

      The selected AP panel is displayed on the left.

    • From the Devices table in list view, click on the particular device under the Access Points tab.

      The selected AP context page is displayed.

  4. Click the troubleshooting icon .

    The Troubleshoot page is displayed for the AP, and the Tests tab is selected by default in the left panel.

  5. Under Test, select the Traceroute radio button.

    The Source field is automatically populated with the selected AP name.

  6. In the Destination field, enter the hostname or IP address.

  7. Click Start Test.

    The Results panel on the right displays the test output.

Note:

To view the test output in the Results panel, you can click the graphical result icon for visual representation or the CLI result icon for CLI output.

The Results panel contains the following details:

  • Summary Icon—The following table describes the meaning of icons used in the test result.

    Successfully completed—All requests passed successfully.

    Failed—All requests failed.

  • Output Parameters—The following parameters are displayed in the test result:

    • Source—The AP name.

    • Destination—The hostname or IP address of the destination.

      If you enter a destination that cannot be reached within 10 minutes, the test fails automatically.

    • Host—A single hop or a list of hops indicating the order the packets travel through these devices.

      Note:
      • The Results panel displays the hops only when probe response is received within 10 minutes.

      • Connector lines between hops and clicking on hops are not supported in this release.

    • Latency—The time delay experienced at each hop.
