Health Metrics—Events

The Events tab displays all the events recorded for the gateways, access points, clients, or switch during the monitoring window selected in the time range.

Note:

The Events tab is displayed only when the device is online.

The following table lists the parameters of the Events tab.

Occurred

Displays the date and time stamp of the event.

Event

Displays the name of the event.

Category

Displays the category of the event.

Source Type

Displays the source type of the event.

Source Displays the name of device where the event is generated.
Serial Displays the serial number of the device.
Description Displays the description of the device.
Reason Displays the reason for the event.
BSSID Displays the BSSID of the device.
Device MAC Address Displays the MAC address of the device.
Client MAC Address Displays the MAC address of the client.
Event ID Displays the event ID.

Table Utilities for the Events Tab

You can search, filter, customize the visibility, and adjust the width of the columns displayed in the table, as required.

  • Search bar: You can search for a specific event by typing the keywords such as event name, category, or so on. The search displays dynamic results as soon as you start typing.

  • Event side panel: You can view an event's description and additional details in the side panel. Click the event in the list and a side panel of that event is displayed.

    The side panel displays the name of the event, timestamp, and additional information based on the event category, client, and the switch event.

  • Filters: You can filter the information in the list based on Category, Event Name, Source Type, Event ID, and time period. To filter the data, complete the following steps:

    1. Click the filtericon.

      The Filters pop-up window is displayed.

    2. Move the slider on the Occurred timeline option to set the time range for the filter.

      You can also set the from and to date and time.

    3. Select the criteria under Category, Event Name, Source Type, and Event ID, and click Apply.

      The filtered data is displayed in the Events table.

      Click Clear to clear the selection. Click Cancel to exit the pop-up window.

  • Table Menu: You can customize the table. To customize the visibility of the columns, complete the following steps:

    1. Click the table menu icon.

      The Actions menu is displayed.

    2. Click Customize Columns.

      The Customize Columns pop-up window is displayed.

    3. Complete either or both of the following steps as required:

      • Select the column names to enable or disable the visibility of that column in the table.

      • Click and hold the action icon next to the column you want to move, and drag it to a new position.

      You can click Reset to Defaults to clear your column visibility settings.

    4. Click Apply.

      The adjusted columns are displayed in the table.

  • Adjust columns: You can adjust the column width in the table. To adjust the width of the columns, complete the following steps:

    1. Hover over the left or right edge of the column that you want to adjust.

      You can identify the edge of the column when the mouse pointer changes to the adjust shape.

    2. Click and drag the edge to adjust the width of the column.

      You can click Reset Column Sizes in the Actions menu to reset the column widths.

Viewing the Events of a Device

You can view the events of a particular device in detail. To view the events of a particular device in the table, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Health Metrics page of a site and click the Events tab.

    The list of events is displayed in a table.

  2. Click the device in the Source column.

    The device details page is displayed.

  3. Click the Health Metrics icon and select the Events tab.

    Note:

    The events for last 3 hours is displayed by default.

    You can customize the time range from the composite Health bar. To know how to set a time range, see Setting the Time Range.

    The events of the device for the selected time range are displayed in a table.

  4. You can filter the events displayed in the table.

    To filter the events based on the impact, click the radio button next to Negative, Neutral, or Positive.

    Note:

    The impact filter is available only for AP and Wireless clients.
