Health Metrics—LAN

The LAN tab displays events for devices within a selected monitoring window. For information about how to set the required time, see Setting the Time Range.

It includes visual metrics such as LAN health, alerts, and port type to assess the network status and pinpoint issues. Performance indicators like throughput, connected clients, and frames offer insights into connectivity and traffic behavior.

The following graphs and metrics are available on the LAN tab:

  • Health—Indicates the overall LAN health status (Good, Fair, or Poor) using color-coded bars for the selected time range.

  • Alerts—Displays the critical or major alerts generated during the selected time. Hovering over the bar displays alert details and clicking opens the Active Alerts side panel. For more information, see Active Alerts Pop-up.

    Depending on the type of device selected, an AP or a gateway, the following charts are displayed:

    For a Gateway:

  • Type and Port—Allows selection of specific LAN type and port from the drop-down list for targeted analysis.

    • Health of the selected port

    • Connectivity Performance

      • Throughput—Shows a graph of the transmitted and received throughput on the selected port of the device over the selected time.

      • Connected Clients—Shows the number of clients connected to the selected port. By default, the graph displays the count of the clients connected to the device. Hover over the graph to view the number of clients connected to the device at a specific time.

      • Frames—Shows the trend in the number of frames (displayed as a percent of the total number of frames) transmitted through the port during the monitoring window selected in the time range. The graph displays the trend in data frames categorized as Errors and Drops.

    For an AP:

    Make your selection on the Interface drop-down as below:

    • If you choose Wired, select the port name from the Wired drop-down on the right.

    • If you choose Tunnel, select the tunnel name from the Tunnel drop-down on the right.

      Note:

      Tunnel is listed in the Interface drop-down only if its configured for the site.

    Based your selection, the below charts are updated for targeted analysis.

    You can see a health bar chart for Port <port-name> for the selected time range.

    For Wired selection, you can see the following additional charts:

    • CRC/FCS- Displays the trend of Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) or Frame Check Sequence (FCS) errors in the data frame. These errors indicate that the data was corrupted during transmission.

    • Collisions-Displays the trend of failed packet transmissions due to collisions.

    For Tunnel selection, you can see the following additional charts:

    • Packet Loss—Displays the percentage of data packets that is lost during transmission through the tunnel.

    • Latency—Displays the time taken for data packets to reach from the source to the destination.

    • Jitter—Displays the variation in time taken for data packets to reach the destination, indicating the inconsistency in packet arrival times.

    • MOS Score—Displays the median score calculated as an average of the uplink health over time based on packet loss, latency, or jitter.
