Health Metrics—System

The System tab displays a summary of system health and performance metrics for devices within a selected time range. For information about how to set the required time, see Setting the Time Range.

It includes visual indicators for overall health, alerts, CPU and memory utilization, temperature, fan status, and power supply conditions, enabling quick diagnostics and issue identification.

The following graphs and metrics are available on the System tab:

  • Health—Indicates the overall system health status (Good, Fair, or Poor) using color-coded bars for the selected time range.

  • Alerts—Displays the critical or major alerts generated during the selected time. Hovering over the bar displays alert details and clicking opens the Active Alerts side panel. For more information, see Active Alerts Pop-up.

    Note:

    Based on the device type (AP, switch, or gateway) and its network configuration, the following tabs or charts are displayed.

    For APs:

    You can see the following graphs under Environment:

    • CPU Utilization—Displays the percentage of CPU utilized by the device over the selected time. Hover over the chart to view the CPU utilization value of the device in percentage.

    • Memory Utilization—Displays the percentage of memory utilized by the device over the selected time. Hover over the chart to view the memory utilization value in percentage.

    • Power Consumption—Displays the power consumed by the AP in watts.

  • Hardware tab—Overall hardware heath chart is displayed based on hardware-related alerts if any, followed by CPU and memory utilization, temperature, and power consumption.

    Note:

    If you are viewing the health metrics for a switch stack, you can select a particular Stack Member from the drop-down.

    • CPU Utilization—Displays the percentage of CPU utilized by the device over the selected time. Hover over the chart to view the CPU utilization value of the device in percentage.

    • Memory Utilization—Displays the percentage of memory utilized by the device over the selected time. Hover over the chart to view the memory utilization value in percentage.

    • Temperature—Displays the ambient and CPU temperature of the device over the selected time. Hover over the chart to view the ambient and CPU temperature in degree Celsius.

    • Fans—Displays status of the fans as Good or Fair based on specific thresholds that vary across device models. Health is indicated as good if all fans are operational and their speed is low or medium. Health is indicated as fair if one fan is not operational or operating at a high speed.

    • Power Supplies—Displays the status of the power supplies as Good or Fair. Health is good if all power supplies are up. Health is fair, if few of the power supplies are not up. The details of the power supplies vary depending on the number of members in a gateway cluster.

  • System Capacity tab—Displays health based on system capacity-related alerts, followed by Unicast Routes, MAC address, ARP, and CoPP counter. For more information, see System Capacity.

  • High Availability tab—Displays health status chart based on the number and severity of VSX alerts or VSF stack related errors.

    Note:

    VSF chart is displayed only if switch stack is set up. VSX chart is displayed only if the platform supports VSX.
