Health Metrics—WAN

The WAN tab provides a comprehensive view of Wide Area Network (WAN) performance and health metrics over a selected time range. For information about how to set the required time, see Setting the Time Range.

This data is essential for diagnosing connectivity issues across gateways and tunnels. By visualizing key indicators such as throughput, latency, packet loss, and alert status, network administrators can proactively monitor WAN behavior and take corrective actions to maintain optimal performance.

The following graphs and metrics are available on the WAN tab:

  • Health—Indicates the overall WAN health status (Good, Fair, or Poor) using color-coded bars for the selected time range.

  • WAN Alerts—Displays the critical or major alerts generated during the selected time. Hovering over the bar displays alert details and clicking opens the Active Alerts side panel. For more information, see Active Alerts Pop-up.

  • Type and Interface—Allows selection of specific WAN types and interfaces from the drop-down list for targeted analysis.

    • Connectivity Performance of a WAN Interface

      • WAN—Shows WAN connectivity status indicating if the external network is Up, Partial, Down, or Unknown.

      • VPN—Shows VPN connection health, highlighting the availability and stability as Up, Partial, Down, or Unknown.

      • Compression—Shows a graph of the bandwidth saved and bandwidth used by the gateway over the selected time.

      • Throughput—Shows a graph of the transmitted and received throughput on the selected interface of the gateway over the selected time.

    • Connectivity Performance of a WAN tunnel

      • Status—Displays the current operational status of the tunnel.

      • Throughput—Graph of transmitted and received data over the tunnel interface.

      • Dropped Packets—Number of packets discarded during transmission due to errors or congestion.

      • Packet Loss—Shows the percentage of data packets that is lost during transmission through the tunnel.

      • Latency—Shows the time taken for data packets to reach from the source to the destination.

      • Jitter—Shows the variation in time taken for data packets to reach the destination, indicating the inconsistency in packet arrival times.

      • MOS Score—Shows the median score calculated as an average of the uplink health over time based on packet loss, latency, or jitter.

  • Probe

    • Packet Loss—Shows the percentage of data packets that is lost during transmission through the tunnel.

    • Latency—Shows the time taken for data packets to reach from the source to the destination.

    • Jitter—Shows the variation in time taken for data packets to reach the destination, indicating the inconsistency in packet arrival times.

    • MOS Score—Shows the median score calculated as an average of the uplink health over time based on packet loss, latency, or jitter.
