Creating Classification Rules

You can create custom classification rules using the global options available on the New Central home page. To know more about the guidelines that you must follow while creating custom classification rules, see Classification Rules.

To create custom classification rules, complete the following steps.

  1. In the HPE Aruba Networking Central landing page, select a site having at least one active client from the Sites menu.

Alternatively, you can click the expand icon on the Sites menu to search for a site from the list.

The site dashboard is displayed with the network and connectivity information for the site.

  2. Click the Clients option.

The List view is displayed on the site dashboard.

  3. Hover over the client row and click on the three dots.

  4. Click Reclassify.

  5. In the Create Classification Rule side panel, fill in the following details:

    • Apply rule to all matching clients—This check box is selected by default.

If you wish to apply the rule to specific devices, then uncheck the box and use the MAC Address box to type in the MAC addresses of the client individually. You can only use one MAC address for a custom classification rule.

    • Category—Click the drop down to select the category.

    • Function—Click the drop down to select the function.

    • Model/OS—Click the box and then select the model and OS, as applicable.

    • Attributes—Click the drop down to select the attribute, fill in the value and then click Add.

    • Click Create.
